I have close contact with @MikeOne for the development, so while he's not a member of our team, he's really close. It's mainly our fault that the app isn't ready yet, because I couldn't give him a stable Homey before :-)
Thanks for the quick response, Emile. Let's hope it makes it to the appstore soon, it's one of the main reasons I bought Homey!
Oh, and great work on the move to production, good luck!
Coming week @Emile? ;-)
I have a PMS running at home and am curious about the ways Homey can make use of it.
I also have a PMS at home, but only once an month :P
Also got both running here one in the cellar and the other running around the house
Definitely! Otherwise you'll get a crate of beer from me
Sorry I missed your question.
It depends I guess. At the moment I'm focussing on getting the stand-alone PHT's to work correctly. Other implementations of Plex clients must all be individually looked at. Those custom players will need some sort of remote control capabilities in order for them to be addressed by Homey Plex app.
My longer term plan (after I get the current version beyond BETA) is to split the Homey app in seperate logical parts, possibly even with seperate app store installs:
1) The core Plex app. This is the app that will connect to your PMS, indexes your media, manages all the speech triggers and contains the logic to determine exactly which media item you would like to play.
2) Multiple drivers for mulitple plex clients. So the standard PHT client will be a driver. But for example, it might be possible to create a remote control driver specifically for the Xbox plex client (or using some second-screen capabilities). So every specific client will get a specific driver.
This way, the community could fairly easily create new drivers en install those seperately from the core app, plus it has the advantage that the core-app (which is already pretty big) doesn't grow beyond reason.
I'm now trying to find time to do a full refactor of the current code base first to get to a version 1.0 (not yet divided as described above). A few core concepts in the Homey API have changed over the past weeks so a refactor of my initial code is needed now.
I hope to be able to post a Video soon showing a few working scenarios on my home setup (with a real homey), like "Okay Homey, I want to watch Star Trek".
How dos the Homey plex app works ? thx in advance
Perhaps a Chromecast is a good, cheap solution to that.
One crate for every backer?
If so; Hertog Jan please
No questions for now, but I didn't dive into the development too deep yet.
Only english for now.
Probably it is a very lame question, please forgive me for that: How can we install the client? Is there a packaged format or an installer?
Then you can use npm to use the package installer. See https://developers.athom.com/
However, when you want to run an 'app' for Homey, you have to select the Homey you want to install to. And since most of us don't have one yet, it will not run
