  • Thank a lot Jorden, it is helpful.
Had no doubt about the second part  Just getting ready for the arrival of homey and also might be useful for many on the forum.
  • Don't know if that's really useful. It is mostly useful if you want to develop your own apps. I have made a first step into the development of an Onkyo-receiver-app but unable to test yet :)

The Athom guys have just too many things to deal with. It will take long time to publish apps on the official app store. Obviously they need to check the code to make sure they are nut publishing apps with spying, tracking, etc abilities. There will be a great number of apps created my users and many might want to use them, test them before the official release. The Plex is a good example for that.
  • i have plex on my homey now and have connect it with my plex account selected a server but cant select a player?
  • It is not showing any players? It currently only supports PHT.
  • @MikeOne thanx gone try that
  • Make sure the player is registered and running when you perform the PIN procedure. Plex.tv needs to be able to see the PHT instance in order to show it as a valid player.

Good luck, let me know if it works.
  • @MikeOne hav it on my windows pc i see now the player on homey i selected but when i say watch transformers it dont do any thing also  with /manager/speech-input/ stil nothing
  • What is the output in the console (athom-cli)? Did it find your media?
  • @MikeOne my homey is on dutch is that a problem?
  • What is the output in the console (athom-cli)? how do i see that

  • I don't have much time now so just two brief pointers:

    1) your homey has to be on english (until all translations are done)
    2) I see connection refused errors, that is not right. Is your plex media server available from the internet?
  • @MikeOne no its set to dutch ik will change that yes my plex server is available from the internet
  • Did you get it to work in the end @TarikFaik ?
  • Not in the app store yet? :-(
  • Also looking forward to this app
    Please tell us the status!

Guys, sorry for the silence. Unfortunately I also have a demanding dayjob, a wife, 2 kids and an unfinished house :-(

However, I have actually visited the Homey offices today for a 2 hour sit-down with Emile. The goal of this meeting was to find out what should be the next steps to get the Plex app into the App store. The result from this meeting was that I will have to refactor the player a bit (not because it's not working at the moment, but because the way it was implemented wouldn't simply support flow cards).

I'm expecting a bit more time in my schedule by halfway next week (finishing up for one of my clients) so hopefully I will be able to actually put some meaningful hours into it.

As I hope you can understand, I can't give hard ETA's (my paying job comes first), but I'm expecting a first App store release pretty soon. This should support a single PMS (no shared yet, that will come in 2.0) and at least support for proper PHT players. It should also have flow support with media search (autocomplete!) to allow for more funny stuff.

I'll report back once the app is submitted for approval in the App store.

Nice work @MikeOne ! Thanks for sharing the video and looking forward to the first release.
  • You're welcome. Maybe to give you guys an indication on why it is taking a bit. A lot of time went into the speech logic to get to a single playable media item. This little demo shows what happens when you have series AND movies for a certain speech match... AND multiple flavours of that movie :-)

This is awesome, how is it I'm based in the UK, and a native speaker, yet my Homey recognises NOTHING.... :-(

Are you sure your Homey is set to English  :#?

I'm afraid it is, I looked there already. The speech input log shows crazy things, sometimes it gets 1 word right.

  • What version are you on?

Or are you a scouser or something  :)

@MikeOne, good one! No, I'm a Northerner who lived in London for a period of time, and am now back up North! No strange accents here; or at least I don't think so.

I'm kinda cheesed off, I've considered using homey as a doorstop and reverting back to Domoticz.

    Edit: Latest version... 0.8.29

    Very nice @MikeOne

    One question about watching series.

If for example one of the episodes I am watching is still on deck because its watched half way, if I tell homey to watch The Walking Dead, will it proceed with the episode on deck?

And if there is no episode on deck, will it start with the first unwatched episode of the serie?

The episode logic is pretty complicated and needs more tweaking with real life scenarios. Continuing an episode (or a halfway played movie even) is not yet implemented so in your first scenario it would pick up the 'oldest' episode On Deck and start playing that (from the beginning). I will build in the logic to continue. I haven't so far as this is yet another question to ask the user ("Would you like to continue where you left?").

For your second scenario, no this is not the default behaviour (yet) - but I'm considering actually doing exactly that.
If the logic doesn't find a matching item on deck to play, and it still has a huge amount of hits, it will abort with a message saying you have to be more specific basically :-)

But this works (suppose you have no voyager onDeck): "Okay Homey, I want to watch the first episode of Star Trek Voyager". So that also basically covers that scenario.

The Plex app also understands seasons and episode so : "Okay Homey, watch star trek voyager season 2, episode 3". Or episode names: "Okay Homey, watch star trek voyager episode The Swarm.

Suppose the Plex app found a single matching episode, but it is one you just watched last night, you can also ask Homey: "Watch next episode" and it will find the next episode and play it.

Bottom line is, the logic I build so far is pretty academic as I have a limited amount of Plex libraries to test against and how you organise your PMS might also be of influence of what is the best way to get to a single playable media item.

Hmm... That is pretty bizar indeed. I used to see that a lot with older versions of Homey, but lately speech has improved a lot here. How is the Hit Rate on "Okay Homey"? Does it trigger well?
