Are you making an app for Kodi or did you find a statement from Athom about this which I could not find myself?

Right, I was searching the forum for Kodi instead of XBMC. Thanx for the heads up.

  • BTW, (bit late) - but I'm working on the Plex app :-)

  • I'm working on an app to control Samsung Smart TV's

Which series if I may ask?

Hi guys, I never build an app before so it's all new to me but... I have a couple suggestions. Maybe this becomes handy for several Homey users and I hope that someone will write an app for:

    • Nemef ENTR (smart-doorlock for the european market). The only trustworthy smart lock so far if you ask me. Assa Abloy has different brands such as Nemef, Yale, Lips, Ikon, etc. Their building locks for more than a century.

More information about Nemef ENTR (Dutch):

More information about Gramofon and AllPlay:

One more thing... Anyone working on integration with Nuki (before Noki)? Probably easier that Nemef's ENTR te be compatible with Homey...

  • @MikeOne, can you enlighten us with some details? Which clients of Plex works? PHT, Rasplex? Are you any further with authentication?
Maybe a sneakpreview screenshot of your app?

My own TV is a Samsung UE40H5500, but it should work on all Samsung Smart TV's from 2013/2014.

All I can say is theres already a topic for Nuki here, And just like you I'm also pretty stoked on getting one!

Hi Bas, sorry for the late reply, I don't seem to get notifications from the forum (will now :-)).

I have been working pretty hard and a first release of the plex app has gone 'live' on github!

    https://github.com/MikeOne/nl.kikkert.plex

With regards to your questions, for now, only real PHT clients will work. These are devices that are registered within Plex as "provides='player'". Other clients (like plex-connect or the plex client on a samsung TV) are unlikely to (ever) work unfortunately, as they usually do not have an interface that allows them to be controlled remotely.
If with 'authentication' you mean parental lock, I have not looked at that feature yet. There has gone a lot of time in getting the basics to work. Please realize that the Plex HTTP API that is being used is extremely limited and not officially documented. I'm already stretching its capabilities by reverse-engineering the plex web client :-)

I have started a new thread to discuss the Plex app: https://forum.athom.com/discussion/366/homey-plex-application-main-discussion-thread

  • Hi @MikeOne, no hard feelings, what so ever! Thanks for your reply! Looks like it is a lot of (hard) work and you have to reverse engineer a lot.
Regarding the Plex Home feature, I have to accounts (mine and wife) which are pin protected and want to keep it that way. I also have a "Guest" account, which is a standard account which you can activate in PMS. And a child account without pin.
If this is not going to work with your app, it would be a big deal breaker for me and kind of useless in mine situation.
I really hope you can find a solution for this.
Regarding testing your app, I still don't have access to a virtual homey. I have been upgraded to "Geek" edition, but still haven't received an invitation.

Hey @BasPost, I understand your issue, I will need to find some time to test Plex Home (API wise) - and see how it reacts/responds. There might still be options to get it to work, I'm not sure.

With regards to your Virtual Homey access, You will need to ask someone from Athom (I'm not directly affiliated with Athom you see - I'm a volunteer :-)).

Maybe the best thing to do is request your feature on the dedicated thread (https://forum.athom.com/discussion/366/homey-plex-application-main-discussion-thread) - so people can chime in, give suggestions and I can keep track of feature requests like these.

Sorry to ask like this guys (I didn't want to create a new thread just because of one question), but is anyone working on an app that would work with Luna? They got open API and are shipping in November...

  • @Mikeone i kind of suck at programming . But if you ever need a certain feature tested you can give me a pm.. running a plex server in a jail of a bsd (freenas) box. might be a different config than most people.

  • Maybe nice for someone to make an app for this machine? http://smarter.am/coffee/ (simple api for the ikettle, found on google: https://libraries.io/npm/ikettle.js/1.0.2).
Wouldn't it be nice to walk into the kitchen in the morning and smell a fresh cup of coffee? :-)

Would be nice indeed. Got one in pre-order. Using the ikettle allready, really cool.

  • They are working on a I kettle app. I also pre ordered a coffee machine.

  • @jovink yes I know. By the way, my fund-athom-a-coffeemachine-so-they-can-create-an-app proposal from a while back still stands if anybody is interested :)

  • @jovink;
Who are "they"? Athom? Smarter.am? or ... ?

  • @MarcoF Athom is creating one. It's on github.

  • Sorry i mean Athom
    https://github.com/athombv/am.smarter.ikettle
Maybe it is possible to use the ikettle app from athom and then change the "commando's" (don't know the right word) so that we can use it with the coffee machine.

I think the API of the coffee machine will be almost the same with some extra commands.
So using the the Athom iKettle app could be a good start.

You can always send us a pull request on the smarter.am app to add coffee support, if we didn't get to it yet. Well happily add you as a contributor!
