Without the support of xiaomi, buying Homey does not make sense to me. On all popular systems for a long time already implemented support through the gateway.

We are making small steps in integrating the Xiaomi Zigbee devices into Homey.
As mentioned earlier, inclusion is possible, but reporting is not (processed right).
Homey uses an implementation of the Zigbee Shepherd gateway to communicate to the Zigbee controller.
Not processing the reports right is a common problem within Zigbee Shepherd.
The cause has been found: Xiaomi sends the attribute reports based on the HA profile to the wrong (= non-standard) endpoint of the controller. (1 instead of 2 for 0x0104, HA profile)
A fix is even defined (switch the endpoint within Zigbee Shepherd), which has been demonstrated to be working on a standalone Zigbee Shepherd controller test environment...
The main question will be how to implement this into Zigbee Shepherd as part of Homeys Core without breaking other Zigbee devices (e.g. Hue motion)...
When I connect it to Homey it does het detected, but as an unknown device. And I think only 5 of the 7 "things it offers" are found, but I am not sure.
Manufacturer/Fabrikant ID: LUMI
Product ID: lumi.sensor_smoke
Device/Apparaat ID: 1026
Profile/Profiel ID: 260
Network/netwerk address: 0xreallylongaddress
Is there anything I can do to help configure this smoke detector properly?
If need be I am willing to send it for further study, but I prefer to get some instructions for testing and such
Thank you for your help!

In the meantime, we might have found a solution within the Zigbee Shepherd... currently being tested at Athom.
Hopefully we will find a fix/workaround for the non-standard Xiaomi implementation. Till then I'll use it as a standalone detector.
There is an interesting document that explains how to enable the developer mode on the Xiaomi Gateway App.
When in the developer mode it will will expose the frames on the LAN to UDP and also show you all SENSOR IDs

In the Developer Preview channel, we are currently testing Homey SW 1.5.4-RC1, which includes the required change in Homey's core (Zigbee Shepherd) to get the Xiaomi (Aqara) devices working...
Based on 1.5.4-RC1, I've got the basic functions of several Xiaomi Aqara devices (more following the standard Zigbee implementation) working (without special tricks)...
Some other Aqara devices are working partially (motion sensor and wireless switch) and some not yet (double switch).
The older (non-Aqara) Xiaomi devices are not working (yet).
Based on these results, we will first focus on development of the Xiaomi Zigbee app with drivers supporting the basic functions of the Aqara devices...
Please be aware: part of the testing of this release in the Developer Preview channel, is testing the impact of this change on other Zigbee devices. It might require more changes before 1.5.4-RCxx is released to experimental (and stable) channels...
Even if you find that it brakes something in the standard ZigBee implementation and cannot implement it (yet): the effort is appreciated!

...if they get their fully integrated power-driven contact CE-approved, I might buy a bundle:

The ones I got I have not been able to add to my Homey. When I try to add them as generic ZigBee - I get them to connect - but they handshake fail to identify. :-/
Would be awesome to have the Xiaomi family working with Homey.
I'm very interested in the curtain motor options of:

The quality/price combination looks very promising. I would like to order a sample for testing, question is what to buy the ZigBee or WiFi version...?
Since the homey Xiaomi / Zigbee app seems well on its way, what will be the chance to support also the curtain motors?
