433mhz Learning Mode

Is there any general learning app for a 433 device?  I have devices which do not have specific apps created and want to be able to learn the code thats transmitted?  Is this possible?

  • Do you mean devices like a cheap Weather station (from the Blokker or something) that is sending temperature via 433? Or a smoke alarm that sends a signal via 433 when he detects smoke? Or the 433-doorbell of the neigbours.. ;)

  • I mean like a cheap plug with remote control.  8 buttons on it 4 on, 4 off.  To let it learn the remote nothing more complicated than that to start with.
  • Same here, I have 'generic' (Czech brand not sold outside of this country) 433mhz plugs which I bought just because of Homey, but I'm wondering if I'll even be able to use them, or If I can just use any of the socket apps. From the video @emile posted it seems like it doesn't really matter though?
  • so far I have not been able to get any of the 'generic' remotes to work with my homey using any of the apps.
  • Somtehing like the 'learn' option in Domoticz. If you enable that, Domoticz will listen to all 433 traffic.
  • I presume so,  I don't have a Domoticz.

The ability to clone a command is what I'm looking for,  I presumed that Homey would offer this functional at the start but apparently not.

Yes I have several of these temperature sensors and expected homey to pick up the signals somehow. So I was also looking for a generic 433 MHz learn mode.
  • This has been ask many times on this forum but sadly ignored. :disappointed:
  • I am curious about this as well. Most of my shutters are Somfy RTS. But a couple of them are 433.92 Mhz programmable. If I can't learn a signal, can I at leest send a custom one? I can get the shutters to learn them.
  • @woei ;Spot on. This is what I would like to do as well. +LightwaveRF sockets

exactly,  I have both simple 433.92 Mhz controllers and then LightwaveRF sockets and light switches over the whole house!!,  so until something changes the Homey is going back in the box.

i put an issue on Git,  please add your support for this

    Edit: obsolete post
  • responded in the LightwaveRF topic, but unfortunately the klikaanklikuit is not working for lightwave
  • Well that issue got squashed, guess its going back in the box then

Our philosophy is that every device should be accompanied by an app. This ensures high quality.

Developer tools to capture 433 MHz signals will be added later.

You could try to write your own app, there's plenty of examples on github and I guess lots of people want to help out (the more example-code there is, the easier it gets to write another app).
  • The KAKU app would probably be the closest for what i want for lightwave but there is no git for that
  • @AndyWilde ;
The sourcecode for the Action app can be found at https://github.com/athombv/nl.action
And you can find more info about apps at https://developers.athom.com/library/introduction
    Hope this helps  ;)
  • thanks, will you also post the KAKU app?

Don't think it helps much, the info for Wireless 433 is [to be documented]
  • I will probably post it some time in the near future, i want to clean it up a bit first.

  • In another topic considering KAKU (https://forum.athom.com/discussion/comment/7149/#Comment_7149)
    Emile said:
While we won't provide an automatic migration, Homey can learn your devices by listening to the signal transmitted. So if you pair a device within Homey, and then make your homewizard transmit the on signal, you shouldn't have to physically remove them.

Can't you just use the the 'learning" function from the KAKU app to learn the 433MHZ signals from other devices (i.e. other brands than KAKU)? Or am I thinking too easy (sorry if this is the case)??

@Emile Would it be possible to share the KAKU app on git?
  • I would like that. I have an obscure doorbell on 433 and would love to try to make it connected.
  • The Action app is available on Github, which also uses 433Mhz.  Not sure if that will help : https://github.com/athombv/nl.action/
  • @Uranday ;
Have you already tried to pair it with one of the doorbell apps? a lot of doorbells use the same encoding chips. for example, i bought a doorbell from the action and successfully paired it with the Alecto app

KAKU has dimmer, code checker, etc.
@Athom Is there a reason why this one is not shared (intellectual property, source)?
  • +1 for apps source

    Hi everyone
Does anyone know if there is any app currently available for Homey that will allow me to use Radio control Jung devices?. They operate under frequency 433,42 MHz , which I believe is the same frequency as  Somfy
I did not manage to pair it using Somfy app o maybe any of you may know if any other app works with that frequency or if anyone is developing a Jung app?

  • Most all of devices uses different protocol, thus requiring own application. Same goes for other wireless technologies.
  • Try the app for the Smart sockets,  there is one socket which is able to learn commands which may help you
