Yes, however we can't guarantee the quality of the recognition then. Using Hey Homey enabled us to create a much better 'acoustic model', because we have a lot of different people saying it. But if you're the only person using your custom trigger, it'll probably work just fine.

  • Hi,
What STT are you using to recognise the key phrase, can i use voxforge to create an acoustic model for Homey.

    Thanks

Nope, we use sensory. Just just say your keyword three times and it's recorded.

    Baymax ;-)

  • Watched "Chappie" yesterday, I liked it.
So "Chappie" would also be a fun alternative!

  • Question: can you give Homey 2 (multiple) names? I'm really thinking of going with JARVIS, but 2 syllables (thank you google translate) might get annoying quickly, so i would also like the option 'Hey J'

    just wondering :)

  • 'Hey J' is about the same as 2 syllables, isn't it? :?

euh good point... i thought you would always need to say 'hey $name$'... but otherwise its still 1 win on syllables from 3 to 2 ;)

  • If I remember correctly, you need to say the 'Hey' if you would change Homeys name to just 'Jarvis'.
But renaming it to just 'J' would probably not give a very good recognition result, that's too short . :)

  • Then I will make it 'Jay' :) ;)

  • My voice is a little different now because of the flue.
Hopefully I would be able to restart the voice recognition later again if I have problems then.
  • Then I will make it 'Jay' :) ;)

    Hmmmmm
  • I will change it to Siri  :D
  • "Hey Shithead, turn down the lights"

Hm. I think I should choose another name for Homey.
  • More and more I go for simply "Attentie Computer" (Dutch) / "Attention Computer" (English).
  • @Emile: is it more accurate if you have a longer phrase? Or can I use "Fuck".  " Fuck, I want to watch Star Trek", "Fuck, I need more light in the livingroom" ?
  • EmileEmile Administrator, Athom
A longer phrase will definitely have less false positives (where Homey triggers when you didn't say it).

But still, our trigger (`OK Homey`, yes we've changed it from `Hey Homey`) will probably work best in all cases because it's customly designed.
