What happened with the LED ring

What happened with the LED ring? It seems to project out from the sphere shape. The earlier prototypes had a flush ring.
The ring also seems to run horizontally. While previously it had an angle just like the Nexus Q had.

    It's still under an angle, it's just not that good visible on the picture :-)

    It does indeed a little bit. It's a lot fancier in real life :-)

    A bit offtopic. What is the sphere made of? [effect on IR signal, UV resistance, Heat resistance] I know that you went through all these, just curious.
