The keyword recognition (Hey Homey) is done locally. So only whatever you said after Hey Homey, until some silence is sent online.
Did you guys considered my previous suggestion about caching (and periodic check) the most frequently used voice commands?
A bit like how DNS works.
Unfortunately it does not work like that. Audio data never is exactly the same as a previous command, so it's impossible to cache.
OK. We'll see. In The Netherlands we have very fast and stable internet connection so I'm not worried :-D
When in doubt: try tot use voice recognition on android (or any other mobile platform). It works pretty fast even on a 3g network.
Another advantage of separating the voice recognition and logic is that neither party will have the full context.
If you are really worried/paranoid about your privacy, I would,t use home automation to begin with. (Or any google/Microsoft/Samsung product for that matter). Adequate protection is always good though, so it's important to ask.
