Ikea introduces Zigbee Light Link products

http://press.ikea.se/ikea_smart_belysning/

Scroll down.

Philips hue and Osram Lightify are also Zigbee Light Link, so I expect them to be easily integrated in a hue system, and thus homey.

  • it is not that simple. i dont know if the hue zigbee system is open. and compatible with the hue zigbee systeem. plugwise is also zigbee but cant communicate with the hue bridge.
  • Plugwise is Zigbee+ not ZIgbee as far as I know. Lightlink is a relatively open system, should work with the HUE-bridge..

  • It's a standard, it is that simple.
  • Can homey talk over ZigBee native without a bridge of some sort?
  • @jjtbsomhorst not yet, still on the to-do list somewhere. But don't expect it soon myself.
  • Seen reports that Ikea Smart Trådfri lamps run on Hue-bridge. Would be great if Homey could act as Zigbee ZLL bridge / hub. Philips says on their website that you can talk directly with their bulbs over zigbee, if you only know how to (and are a registered zigbee dev).

On the plugwise website they tell that the wallplugs use a zigbee network. However, their wallplugs are not zigbee certified and they use a slightly different protocol. It was a deliberate choice to do that. On the other hand, Anna is Zigbee certified.
  • @Bram could ask someone if we can get an update on this? Specialy because of this: https://tweakers.net/nieuws/125011/ikea-gaat-slimme-lampen-compatibel-maken-met-homekit-alexa-en-assistant.html. I guess you don't want to lose the race..

As said in the update from almost two weeks ago Zigbee will come in 1.4. Zigbee will work without a bridge (native from Homey). They already shown a video on slack (in DP and now also in general) where they have Zigbee working. First things first and get 1.3 to stable. This friday will be a new update from Emile on the update topic

Short version of the update from May 12

    Emile said:
    Summary Week 18 & 19 (May 1 - May 12)

While some of us are working on current issues, others are working on ZigBee (planned for v1.4) and the Apps SDK v2. With the new Apps SDK, it won't be only much easier to write Apps for Homey, but also will increase the stability of apps in general, because community developers won't have to reinvent the wheel all the time.

We expect to release the v1.3 software update to the experimental channel next week, and hopefully to stable the week after. Shortly afterwards v1.4 will hit developer preview, and from there the cycle continues.
