Homey in uk and works with insteon hub

Hi all newbie here, I have an home automation system set up using a kinect, it works 20% of the time which is very dissapointing. My question is/are, does the homey work with insteon, does it work in the uk?
Also how far away will the homey work, any one in the uk have some feed back please.
Thanx in advance Tony2sugars

Homey does not work with Insteon (yet). What do you mean with 'how far away'?
  • Love the (yet) Emile! Is there a time frame on insteon set up please?
"How far away"- the range in which homey will pick up your voice.

We all love Emile, no shame in that. ;-)

I cannot give you as estimation for Insteon. About the talking range, it heavily depends on the acoustics of your room. However 4 to 5 meter will work.
  • That's a good distance for voice range, I have insteon set up in my home so will definitely be interested as soon as insteon is incorporated. Would be to expensive and a lot of work to change it. Is there someone working on insteon at the moment or is it a future project?

Not sure if anyone saw this: http://blog.automategreen.com/post/home-controller-0.5.0
If Homey is using an API based on node.js, maybe this could be helpful in creating a program to communicate with the insteon Hub :)
I plan to play around with their API on my hub device and see what it can do!
  • Oh well done Nikku, please please please keep me up to date with what you find out!
  • I actually managed to set up nodeclipse and play around with some of the sample programs for the home-controller api, and got it to run and control one of my lights (I made the light blink on and off), so I've made some progress! Granted I've never programmed with node.js before (I'm mostly a Java, C#, and VB.NET programmer) but I'm getting the hang of it I think, haha.
