Access to my.athom.com from outside the home network

@Emile Did something change in regard to access to my.athom.com? Yesterday it worked fine, and I could access my Homey from outside of my home network. As of today, when I open Chrome and log in to my.athom.com, it tries to connect using my local IP address, instead of the external one. Which, ofcourse, fails...

Works for me... Maybe some dns-caching?

    No problems here

Strange... so it's not a global issue. Are you both also using Chrome on a Windows PC, or on a Mac?
I'm running Chrome on Windows 7, from my PC at the office.

Which is also why I have no idea how this could be a DNS-caching issue. I'm at work, on the same computer that I used yesterday to access Homey. Yesterday it worked (it used the external IP address), so if it were a caching issue, shouldn't it still be using that same external IP address? Instead, I see Chrome trying to connect to the internal IP address that my Homey is on...

I have something similar I think. Yesterday it did not work either. I can login at my.athom.com. It welcomes me but I get the Homey with (offline) next to it. When I am at home there is no problem.

Yep, that's exactly what I see. It's trying to connect to Homey with my internal IP address, so it can't get a connection, and because of that, it reports Homey as being "offline".

Chrome on win7 from the office too... Did you try to logout of Homey and re-login?
  • BumblezBumblez Member
Yeah, I logged out of my.athom.com, cleared my entire browser cache, rebooted my PC, and logged back in. Still the same problem...

i'm working from the office on a win7 with  chrome ,
  • Sounds like caching..  I've seen before that, when I'm at home, my.athom.com sometimes redirect to https://(some_long_string).homey.athom.com/... and sometimes tot https://local_ip_address/...

From outside it always redirect to https://(some_long_string).homey.athom.com/...

Dit you tried CTRL+F5 when your on my.athom.com?

I am using a mac and pc (win10), chrome, firefox and safari. Even on my mobile phone it is not working (app) and when I use my internet connection of my phone for my mac it is stil not working (so outside of my work internet). I think it has something to do with the newest update.

Tried it in firefox... same problem. I get the impression that it may be a caching issue on Athom's server...

I don't think so. I'm running 0.8.35 too and I saw this happen once before on 0.8.32 or something like that... I guess reboot Homey should work but for that you'll need access...

I'll reboot Homey when I get home tonight. So I won't be able to test if it solves the problem, until I'm back in the office tomorrow...

Good news! I logged in to my home computer and restarted homey. Now I am able to login from my work location. Thanks for the advice.

    Greetings,
    Aaron

Aaaaaaand, it is offline again!  :(
  • Same problem here...
  • open https://my.athom.com/api/user/me and search for remoteUrl

Last weekend have the same problem also in internal network. Coming only on the first site with menu. After power-cycling homey was reachable for couple second. In this time i reinstalled the only app that was installed, hue app, after that its working. Today i installed Hue App again and is working but the bridge is not connected yet.

Hi MatjaLipu, Found the remote url but when I put it in the browser I get " sorry, this homey is not connected"
  • I guess that means your Homey is offline. :(
  • AaronAaron Member
    Haha, thanks  :)
  • If I think I got browser cache problems I try with portable version http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/google_chrome_portable

Works fine on the office here. You could try a incognito mode in chrome? Incognito starts a new fresh cache session

Same here, when I came home, I found out that my Homey was unresponsive, and required a reboot (that's the first time this has happened since I received it). Within 30 minutes after that reboot, it had the same problem again. Rebooted again, and it's been running okay since then (and I can remotely access my.athom.com again).

So I guess the reason why I saw my.athom.com trying to connect to Homey's internal IP, is because the external IP could not be reached...

So, for the first time I had to unplug my Homey because it was stuck. Everything is working now. Lets see if this was a one time thing.
