Use of Logitech ultimate remote

Now let's start and fill this forum. I have a logitech ultimate remote that I can use to start different devices. Will there be a way for homey to communicate to the logitech, as this would mean that it can run several devices next to each other and I don't have to come out of the chair in search of my remote :-)

  • Wouldn't the Homey be able to do what the Logitech remote does?
  • I think of Homey as a super universal remote, but maybe the Logitech extenders maybe of use (they use RF to receive and IR to send commands)

I think so too. Like the KickStarter page mentions as well, Homey will be able to send command to devices using the following wireless technologies: WiFi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, ZWave, Infrared, 433MHz. So I expect your Logitech Ultimate will be catching dust, when you discover that sending your commands by voice to Homey is way more conveiniant...

If Homey is smart enough to remember what devices he already controlled (on/off, input of tv or receiver, ...) then it will be able to replace a Harmony.
You won't be able to use them together, or both devices will get confused (unless you only use them to switch channels and change the volume...)

Well if homey also has an IR receiver, Homey can be smart enough to record that a device was turned on or off by another remote.

But Homey only has an IR transmitter right ?
  • By polling the Logitech hub you would get the current status I suppose, so this could be implemented.
For Homey to control the Logitech hub would be a very quick start into controlling lots of mainly audio/video devices. The task to write different decoders for each av-device out there is huge!
  • That's what I thought. A quick start by just use the logic that logitech already has.

We'll probably won't support the remote ourselves, as we want to focus on Homey itself, but you're free to add your own support!
