colour-led candles - Self import Agency

I grabbed some cheap LED-candles at Gamma (like these) and wanted to see if I could control them with Homey. I took a remote apart, am I right it's simply IR? Unfortunately my homey's IR seems to have died so I can't test this... I don't see an IC anywhere, just contacts. Tried to take the black spot (about 1 mm high) apart (guess an IC is under it) but no luck. It's about  1 mm high, 9 contacts going in....

Have a look at the led with a camera and push a button.. if the led blinks white on the camera's LCD, it's an IR LED :-)
edit: doesn't show on my iPhone 5S, but does work with my DSLR's :)
  • Nice trick marco seems to be working on my lumia thanks
  • You can hear the modulation from a remote, by holding it at a transistorradio tuning between 2 senders on mw, to see if only
the ir-led is broken, or the remote is ( rijp voor de prullenbak )  :p
  • It does light up with a camera.... Fortunately I had two sets of these with one broken remote (the one I disassembled)... So I hope to be able to do something with it once I get IR back working...
