433 Blinds and general 433 support

Hi All

I recently bought a 433 motor for rollerblinds via Amazon in the hope that one of the Homey 433 apps could work for this.... However i wasn´t that lucky. So I have now trawled the forum for a solution, and I can see that many users (that are not able to program apps) are having difficulties with supported 433 devices.

Motor can be found here :
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Automatic-AC100-240v-Electric-Compatible-Broadlink/dp/B01KUT63BA/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1511095176&sr=1-1&keywords=Smart+Home+Automatic+AC100-240v+Tubular+Electric+Curtain+25mm+Motor+Compatible+with+Amazon+echo+through+Broadlink&RM+Plugin+RF433+EYA25-2/28+with+1+Channel+Remote&dpID=41UhIoU9b0L&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I am now down to realizing that I wont be able to use this device on Homey unless I can ask some development guru to pick-up my project... And this is very unlikey.... I can use a Broadlink device and hook it up to my Amazon Echo, but I would really like it to work with Homey as this is were everything else is connected.

I can see that there are device like Broadlink supporting "learning mode"for 433... So if Broadlink can do this, why can´t Homey ?. So would it be an idea to support Broadlink and then let that be the 433 Bridge to Homey for us non development dudes :-) ?.

Also if you have any other idea on how I can proceed in my quest to automate the blinds (with my current motor) I would be very grateful :-).

/Christian

  • Well the problem what you make is that there are too much brands doing 433 and not doing it by the rules. If you look for the Dutch 433 apps (hema, action, klik aan klik uit) those all say to do 433 but they can't be combined in one app. Problem is there are a lot of brands where some are more exotic then the other and the signal difference. That's why an app is needed for all those brands. Athom is also working on learning / listening tools but still there needs to be an app be made (more information on the tools on the developers page -> https://developer.athom.com/tools)
  • Thank for the reply @lubbertkramer :-)

I am fully aware of the issues with 433, but how can Broadlink solve this with their hardware ?. you can pair any RF signal and map it to virtual buttons in their app.

This should be possible in Homey as well, and would make Homey an even cooler gadget than it already are :-)
