Mirai malware using IoT

With reference to above links, this triggered me to think how secure our Homey turns out to be? How do we know, how do we know the Apps are secure enough?

  • I actually find this not an off topic, i am curious as well 
  • Well you can't install another OS without direct access to Homey i thought and apps run in a sandbox. Apps in the app store should be safe and checked by Athom but an app installed by CLI could do anything they want for example operate as a node in a DDOS network but could not give access to other apps for example without your permission. Always check what you install even from the app store :)  But that counts also for app installs on your phone, with hidden features wich made the news earlier.

    Maybe @Bram can give some more detailed information?
