Long distance

Hi

I have my garden house 75 m from my house and want to use zwave there too,

I have rj45 cable in the ground, can I use a raspberry that speaks to Homey lite fibaro link if I cannot get the signal down there?

Anyone know?

Thanks

Niklas

  • Max Zwave range is about 100m. If you have 110/230V to your garden, maybe an range extender in a watertight box can help you reach the garden with zwave.

  • Raspberry Pis are pretty sturdy. I have seen various outdoor implementations but I don't know what the life expectancy is. The fact that there is so much stuff available for the rpi would make it my first choice for most projects. There are some off-the-shelf tools you can install on your rpi to set and read your GPIO pins as a web service.
    switching: http://rpi/switch/on response: ok
    sensors: http://rpi/sensor/1 response: 24.1

I'm sure you can plug this straight into the flow editor without adding any coding. The flow editor might not know that it is a switch or temperature sensor

Alternatively, you could use the rj45 wires itself to connect directly to your switch or sensor :-)
