What Z-wave library/driver is used

edited July 2015 in Archive

Hi Guys,

Will you use an official, licensed z-wave library ? Or will you use openzawe (is it allowed for a commercial program ?)

The reason I'm asking is because I do have an exisiting z-wave network, I want to switch to homey, but I know (from trying with domoticz) that some of my devices are not supported because of incompatibly of the openzwave library (supported devices list is not so big --https://github.com/OpenZWave/open-zwave/blob/master/config/manufacturer_specific.xml)

I assume Z-way is the best available at this point ? http://www.z-wave.me/index.php?id=22

Any chance you can clarify that ?

    Hi Dextro,

We have build our own Homey Z-Wave api and driver to interface with the ZM5304. Homey supports inclusion in an existing network if your controller supports Controller Shift.
Because we wrote all Z-Wave functionality our self, all feedback will be helpful and appreciated.

  • So start shipping the devices so we can give feedback (j/k) :-D

  • Is it possible to do a controller shift from Domoticz (Raspberry Pi + Z-Wave.me USB stick) to Homey?

I'm testing with Domoticz since a couple of weeks and bought 5 Fibaro modules and the Z-Wave Usb stick, so I'm building a Z-Wave network right now, but wan't to go over to Homey when it's delivered of course.

  • You'll have to find out if the Z-wave module you use, supports controller shift.
Homey does since it's required for compliance to the z-wave plus standard.

I have a RaZberry on my Raspberry Pi and in the settings there is a controller shift option...

I've bought this one z-wave.me UZB today at Robbshop. Can't find anything about controller shift

  • This is a function mandatory for Z-Wave plus controllers. Stated by Taco in the "Fibaro support" topic. So if the z-wave.me USB is zwave plus it should support it.

  • Connect it to you Domoticz and look in the settings for controller shift.
