[Help needed] Smarter App (iKettle) does not find my iKettle v1

Hi,
I own a ikettle v1. When using the Smarter App it will not find the device when trying to add it. I can control if from my Fibaro HC2 so I know it's connected to my local LAN.
Can anyone explain how to get this device connected? Do I need the iKettle app on my phone (which I don't use)?
