To scare a burglar...
Yesterday a house of a friend was broken into. He had a Homey flow running that we made together and it seemed to have worked! The burglars entered his office but left without taking anything. The flow is very simple, it detects motion and then switches all lights on and plays a sound file on the Homey. The sound file is what made it work I think.
The sound file starts with a series of DTMF code sounds (the beeps your phone uses to make a connection). It's then followed up with the sound of somebody picking up the the phone and saying 'Securitas Services, how can we assist you' . Another seemingly automated recording then states there is a burglary at the address. Securitas replies an office is on his way and should arrive in 3 minutes.
Now all of this is fake, anybody with an internet connection and a microphone can make this in a few minutes. But it's pretty convincing and really sounds like Homey is phoning a security company. And most burglars are stupid as shit...
