Nightmode led

some ideas for the leds during the night;
- 1 or 4 selecter leds only. (Lowest brighnest on a full ring is too much during the night)
- macbook pro like "heartbeat led"-mode

other ideas? Currently it is not clear to me if homey is listening or whatever when the led is dimmed completely.
A combo of the ideas above sound pretty cool right?

  • Homey is listening over here when ledring is at 0%. I turn ledring on when Homey starts listening and turn it of again after like 50 sec. That way u have still a visible when Homey starts listening.
  • I know, but in my opinion. These things should be flowbased? More standard setup-ish. And since we are in beta i thought we could brainstorm more userfriendly solutions

    Great suggestion!
    1 led is more energy efficient the 16(?). One led that goes round in 90-300sec, would be great!

    Yeah great. Let 1 led spin around downstairs when ur asleep. Much more efficient then leds off.

    Pfffffff.....

    Our homey now is off 24/7, stands dead in a corner and one led is very showing and still beter then XX Leds....
  • Homey stands in the studentroom/bedroom for now. Hence the problem/suggestion

    (to much) light == (to much
    ) energy.

    Choice == +1

    Would be great if we can say/do:
    If sun down, then round 1 led in red(relaxing color)

    When you set the led ring off in the settings it will still show you feedback when you are talking to Homey .. Just so you know.
  • Ah cool, thnx

    Better idea might be the ability to create custom led animations and share them via the app store.
    This way we can expect a lot of cool stuff. :-)

    @nklerk ;
    Really(!) cool idea!

    I believe this is possible already, or will be possible in the future:

    https://developers.athom.com/library/ledring/#screensaver

    I'll give it a try tonight and see if I can create an app with only different screensavers. Ideas for screensavers except the ones mentioned thus far?

    and freezes when listening
  • @KoenMartens I'd be interested in one that is as dim as possible because for me even at 1% the ledring us still way to bright for my liking.

    Rainbow animation or anything else as well? I can now make screensavers as I will, including a rainbow animation (same as normal animation), but at 10% intensity (or any other, but 10% sounds good).

    @Tim_Brass: I can't get it to bounce back and forth... only a rotating red eye of evil. Same for @Robebar, since your's are more or less similar.
  • @KoenMartens Great! Don't know what is the easiest to make, but for comparison I think a lower brightness on the 'standard rainbow' would be good.
    Let me know if you want me to test it, I've got athom-cli installed and know how to use it ;)

    :D

    I am heavily limited by the fact that the ring can only be rotating or standing still. @Athom; any idea when/if more options become available?
