Is it possible to use alternate speech input? (Future wise)

Maybe an odd idea/suggestion, but our situation is odd

We ordered our Homey a year ago. Because of my disabled wife I saw a lot of possibilities for her (besides the huge toy factor for me  ). This week we finally got our Homey like a lot of other people and believe me, it's an awesome product!
However, my wives voice has deteriorated and Homey has a hard time even hearing her, let alone understand her.

So, my idea is when the bluetooth module will be available, is there a possibility to use a tiny clip on bluetooth microphone as alternate speech input? Of not, is it really hard to implement?

  • Good idea.
  • @Hermelijn: you can turn of the microphone on Homey and use the one on the android-app. That should work after some testing what's the best distance to your phone...
  • @BasVanDenBosch , true but handeling a phone or a tablet when your hands don't work is not a real option.  Nor is it an option to have it lay on your chest all day.
I already thought of an tablet "clamp" device but it's rather expensive and she has already enough of thise hanging on the side of her bed.

Hence my thought of a tiny clip on bluetooth mic only weighing a couple of grams and at the price of a couple of euro's (aliexpess?)

But I do appreciate thinking with us  ! KUDOOS!

  • A bluetooth microphone connecting to the tablet/phone (I presume this works with the android app)? Speech recognition is still not great with Homey... Have to go to the shop by car, let mesee if bluetooth works

Haha  , but  my original thought was to connect the bluetooth mic to homey directly (when the module is activated) instead of relaying it through the app runnning on another device.

(bluetooth isn't working now at the moment yet...)
  • Speech recognition works much better on my phone (though only English for now) so I would definitely go that way if I were you... Didn't seem to get my carkit working for the Homey-app though... Perhaps other bluetooth devices do work...
