Configuration

I don't know if this has been already discussed somewhere here on the forum?

I wonder why I can't change the way my Homey is connected to the wireless network?
I would like to fige a fix IP, gateway, ...
Don't see how this is possible? Maybe it's not. Hopefully it will be possible later on.

Search on multiple keywords only works well in double quotes (")
  • You can do that trom your router... At least I did
  • That's right, just lookup the MAC address in the DHCP table off your router, then make a reservation for that MAC address with the IP you'd like Homey to have.

But I do agree something basic like setting static IP configuration should be possible from within the Homey settings. I assume most users have no clue how to make an IP address reservation in their router.
  • I assume most users have no clue what an IP address is and why they would want to have a static address.
  • Those users won't care :)
  • Exactly, and the ones that do care know why they want a static address and should have the knowledge how to configure and manage static IP's, otherwise they should let the automatic mechanisms do their magic.
  • Thank you all for the replies.
I didn't find it at first. I searched with FIX+IP.

Anyhow, I find it strange that I have to use my router. I know how to do that, but I don't like to depend on my router for that.
Hopefully in the future it will be possible to configure the network setting inside Homey.
I like to have control over things especially my network with almost one hundred used IP adresses.

But it seems that I'm not the only one with this request.

    THX guys
