  • mbalik79 said: @vaderag Also with version 1.5.0 it is also possible to use HTTP. HTTP can be used on its own (without a MQTT broker). The use of a MQTT broker is still possible and has some advantages over the use of HTTP.  When using HTTP, …

  • So my Homey is on its way! Does someone have a n00b guide to MQTT? I know how to flash the Sonoff (tho seems there are a lot of firmware's out there so direction on which is best would be good), but reading the Homey App description seems you need …
  • I'm excited for Welcome support - looks like one of the best security cams on the market right now!
  • @djesko  just wanted to follow up on this - i'm a bit in the dark at the moment so any help you can provide so I can order some stuff do to the relevant changes would be appreciated!
  • Just seen that LightwaveRF Gen2 is coming on Oct 3rd. Was planning to buy a bunch of their switches for use with Homey so now just wondering if Gen2 is going to be supported too? I'm not sure if the tech is changing much but seems they're adding 2w…
  • djesko said: im using a 12 v siren to a plug.. Did you have to alter the wires? If not, can you tell me which you have? Thanks
  • ingmar said: be aware that an outdoor sirene is not always allowed by law, for most cities you require a permit Absolutely not the case here in the UK. There are very few alarm systems that don't have external siren. They have to stop af…
  • djesko said: inside yes, im using a plug and a siren for out side Can you give me an example? I'd like to do this but can't find any sirens that dont require wiring into a traditional system
  • zimbra said: I also have a Zipato keypad. The creator of the Zipato app (don't know if he is on this forum) in the athom store asked for the ID's. I gave him the id's @d_janssen mentioned. Oh great - does this mean he's working on it?

  • They're internal only tho? Or have you used them outside anyway? Ideally I want something external so that neighbours can here an acts as a more meaningful deterrent...
  • http://www.vesternet.com/zipabox-rfid-keypad  This looks good, but seems no support (yet?)
  • bvdbos said: You could also use NFC, Homey has a build-in reader: https://forum.athom.com/discussion/1147/add-rfid-nfc-key-to-homey Yeah, that occurred to me but worries me a little bit tho with the device needing to be in such easy acc…
  • I have a Homey arriving soon and want to use for home security. The Zipato seems to be the most available to me - can you add support for that Seems to just be rebranded but reading around seems codes are slightly different... Thanks!

  • Thanks for the replies. 1. I'll await someone else who might have the details on Lightwave - mostly I want to be able to set scenes, light % and on/off 2. I see apps for the Ikea bulbs and Osram which both seem to not need a hub - my understanding …
  • Thanks. I'll def bear it in mind if (when?) I get a Homey   It's nice to know that something can be done - even if it's not as simple as out of the box working. Like the OP I'm still relcutant to mess with a setup that right now is working as I want…
  • BartWijers said: I have a few sonoff devices in my setup. But I flashed them with this: http://marvinroger.github.io/homie-esp8266/stable/  It uses (local) MQTT, has ota updates, etc. Works very well with the MQTT client app and VirtualDevices.…
  • I'm looking at the homey now and also have a bunch of Sonoff I wouldnt mind flashing in principle, but they are wired all over the house (some mega hard to reach) and work fine (and even better, simply with Alexa - just Turn On and no Ask Homey Too)…
  • Thanks @swttt  - good to know there is a workaround... do you think this (or something similar) is likely to be implemented as core? I'm not adverse to fiddling, but having to have another device running seems to defeat the purpose somewhat of havin…
  • @Panda Actually Alexa handles that if it sees multiple things named the same it asks which. But obviously you could disable the Hue skill or use a different name on Homey and no issue. This is a bit of a deal breaker for me... i need that seamless…
  • Prospective buyer here... Alexa is a must have for me - I have Echo Dot's all over the house so being able to control things from  each of those is essential. With the skill it sounds like I can use that, but it is a huge step down from the standa…
