Homewizard has a simular solution as what you are suggesting. people with weather devices are able to either share or not share their sensor results with other users.

Kika acdb-7000b is a cheap 433 mhz device that can be used behind a existing cheap normal doorbell. Homey should be able to retreive its signal and do something with it.

Yes, you will be able to. That is exactly one of the reasons why homey is superior compares to other systems such as homewizard, smarthings or fibaro.
