Homey doesn't respond to ok homey

  • Ah. Got the part on testing.
installed soundcloud and made flow "when i say something -> play song" (yup, Adele's Hello). That works.
But when I add a tile "Say something" with text "hello", and run it, i get a red exclamation mark in the upper-left of the tile. And I cant find any error text anywhere. The music tile still works properly. (Sound quality sucks (c;)
Same here. I installed two dutch voices and removed one again. Not sure if that caused this.

I think the problem is within the "training tool". I recorded two videos. One while doing the training (everything fails)
    https://youtu.be/77Pt2_KPOug
And this video, with my Homey listening to the previous recorded video and having its voice recognition working perfectly

I hope this helps, to solving this problem.

Some feedback, though I don't really need voicecontrol: I had to say "ok Homey" about 30+ times before I got 5 checkmarks. I thought that was a bit overkill. :-)  Also even with 5 checkmarks it almost never responds to my "ok Homey", I think 1 hit out of 7 fails each time. This while my Android phone without any calibration responds to "Ok google" almost always.
Try lowering your voice. That Worked flawlessly for me. It was very tempting to use an enthusiastic high pitched voice, but if you maintain a more generic pitched voice it should work fine
  • Watching a show yesterday and Homey started listening about every 2 minutes. Me saying/yelling "OK homey" multiple times, no response.. Also when my kid is playing, Homey respondse to sound every few minutes..
You guys can babysit him for a day and use him for calibrating the microphone.
  • "OK Homey. Make an appointement for me with the speech specialist (logopedist). And for you an appointment with a hearing specialist (audicien)."

Or English class It helps if you pronounce all words separately, not in one flow. BTW, how does one pronounce wikipedia because I can't get the app to work whatever I do...

I'm also struggling to get homey to accepts my "Ok Homey" (it's almost impossible). However, when I clap my hand 2 times I get 5 checkmarks after 5 tries. After that I tried the flow which BasVanDenBosch was suggesting. Just let Homey repeat what you asked him.

So I clap my hand two times and ask him "what is the time" or "what will the weather be tomorrow" and he repeats not even one word I asked him but something completely different like "go to" or "what the".

I thought you were using the speech recognizing software from Google for the Homey. But the when I'm saying "Ok Homey" in the google translate app it actually writes down "okay homie". And Ok Google actually responds to my questions.

For now I will switch the voice control off because it's driving me crazy that he never responds to my ok Homey but responds to sounds in my house or on the television randomly.
  • Is this a hardware issue then ? because guys i changed my homey in 3 rooms. When i do training from 1 till 4 meters it works perfectly. After that it always works when i call it
  • In my setup, when HOMEY the first time talks, hy im HOMEY ,
this sounds very atached by noise, normal or not ?,
Today did a HOMEY reset, wipe all data, and start from begining.
Stil it won't accept any ok HOMEY never a green ring, only
when i couch or make strange noises.

@BasVanDenBosch The app is more usable when you use "Wiki" instead of "Wikipedia" For example "Ok Homey! Wiki Rose".

To test if the app is working at all tou could try to type the voice command in http://your homey's IP/manager/speech-input/  .  There you only have to type "Wiki Rose", without the "OK Homey" part. Well you'll see.

Took me 2 hours to get this working using a POST command  :D didn't came to my mind there was a page for it :'( love the documentation so far........
  • Then HOMEY speech out what i typed, nothing else ?
  • Then HOMEY speech out what i typed, nothing else ?
Yess, now HOMEY follows the commands i typ, next step
do the same when i speak.  :)
  • 'OK Homey', 'Yes' and 'No'  are the only words Homey recognizes. How can I let Homey react to other words? It does hear my voice, but no recognition of the actual words. I've put for example "Music" in "You said something" card, as a trigger. Nothing happens when I say "Music" (not before Homey listens, and not after). Anybody any idea?

I disconnected the homey, I m really disappointed with the speech recognition.  I ll await an update.
  • If I let Homey push all text it recognizes to my mobile, it posts only English words even though I've set the language to Dutch. Is this normal?
  • Dutch isn't (completely) working yet.
  • I switched back from one voice to the default and guess what. Homey starts talking. randomly like "Ok, thank god" and "Thank" or "O three" or just "three"
This while it is silent in the room. I do have a flow that does (in fact does not) repeat what I say, but as the white ring is not spinning, I do not think it is interpreting noise.
For  now I switched it off until 0.8.18 arrives:).

My Homey is on the '3' theme as well now.. it used to hear 'yes' and 'no' a lot.
..and I had it play a song twice today when I didn't ask for one... so I disabled Soundcloud for now.
  • I calibrated Homey again yesterday and I noticed that it did not work when I was sitting next to it. I move my chair about 2 meters and suddenly the Hey Homey hitrate went up considerably.
  • I have switched form English to Dutch a while ago but noticed Homey does not respond very well to OK HOMEY. I would like to restart the voice training. However, this option is missing.....How can I restart without complete reset. Everything else works quite well...... Firmware 0.8.38 and 0.8.39 show the same behaviour.

As far as i known voice training is complete "removed/disabled" and you can't train anymore.

Support doesn't refer to that page using their menu. It is only accessible with that direct link.

Voice training was removed, also the trained data if everything worked ok. I did some tests: about 250 false positives through the radio every hour with voice-training. Without voicetraining: no false positives for "ok Homey".
  • My Homey isn't responding to 'OK Homey' either.
Only way to talk to Homey is through the IOS app on my phone. Looks like the microphone is disabled while it's enabled in the settings.
