Replacement for Harmony remotes?

Hi guys,

I just bought a Harmony Elite smart remote a few days ago, then I stumbeled across Homey today. Since it also has an IR blaster, I am wondering if I could use the Homey to fully replace a Harmony (e.g. send it back while I still can)?

Thanks

Homey might be able to replace a IR blaster (however there is still no feedback from dear Homey owners on the IR angles and on the true strength). But Homey can`t replace an actual physical remote as during the movie you don`t want voice commands to increase the volume or pause, and the Homey app is not designed to do that comfortably for everyday use. I have also just bought one (actually two but returned one) cheaper Harmony remote. If you paid so much for an Elite remote you might want consider using this along homey: neeo.com
  • Thanks. And also thanks for pointing me to neeo. I didn‘t know this yet. Looks very interesting :)
  • Might take a while before neeo arrives. Still no estimated time of arrival. Radio silence  on that subject

You will not want to fully replace the Harmony remote with the Homey (changing the volume or browsing the channels by voice would be way too slow), but Homey should definitely be able (with the right app) to start up the Activities in your Harmony hub - so that you can turn on/off a batch of devices with a voice command.
