Zipato bulb 2 - reg. status update

Hi.
I have just ordered two Zipato bulb 2's - now I have come across a few forum posts, regarding people having problems with status updates on other controllers.
Has anyone tested these bulbs? Do they update their status reliably?
The thing is, i want to change their color via a xiaomi cube - in my flow would need to test if the bulbs are ON before continuing.
I'm hoping for a quick reply - so i might be able to cancel my order before shipment.

the bulb does not update it's status when being turned on by direct association - this might be app related.
