The new unit or the old unit? (have the old unit and the new 4k unit of dreamscreen) :)

The driver supports both the HD and 4K and maybe even the sidekick. I don’t have a 4K or sidekick so I cannot test this. I believe the HD and 4K are similar in what they do from an API perspective. The Sidekick is different.

Yes, I wanted to add a post before offering the app so I could link to the form post. It’s awaiting approval. I’ll add more info to the post later on. I didn’t expect any comments here this fast to be honest.
  • App is working great so far, have it connected with my 4K unit wich is indeed the same as the HD but only higher output. Great work @nklerk :D

    Thanks for testing.
  • How do you guys like the 4k Dreamscreen? I chose the Ambivision Pro which does the same, but with a camera pointed towards the screen. However, the app and the camera unit itself are quite bad (app is totally non-responsive and unclear, the unit itself gets too hot and seems to shut itself down or get overloaded or something... also very slow connection to the camera unit).
From what I've seen I didn't like the Dreamscreen because it seemed to not match the colors so well in most screenshots/vids I saw... but I'm not so satisfied about the first version of the new Ambivision.

Already had the dreamscreen (Oké bl unit from previous ks) but already loved using it and now I finally can also watch my 4k hdr with ambilight. No problems with non matching colors have the Oled and led both hanging on a white  wall

I don’t think any of the products is very accurate on the colors. Reason is one led covers many pixels. It’s not hard to believe others can have a better algorithm though. For me it’s more than perfect, for others it might be different.

I’m still amazed by the performance of the DS. It’s really fast, it ads a lot of viewing depends while not distracting. And now works with homey
  • @lubbertkramer @nklerk Thanks for your reactions.

And how did you set it up... The Dreamscreen is placed between your receiver/devices and TV? Or did you use a second "out" on your receiver? Both might work for me.... but both might also give me problems and headaches :)
And does ARC (Audio Return Channel) still work? And what about CEC?

Last but not least, any problems with HDR if the DS is in between? I would think that placing the DS between my TV and playstation (directly or via the receiver) could generate problems with the HDR recognition.

Marantz reciever to Dreamscreen and Dreamscreen to TV (in my case OLED tv for the 4K unit and a HD Led tv for the other unit). No problems here with PS4 Pro/Nvidia shield connected to the reciever -> Dreamscreen, HDR/4K supported and working (get the nice bubble when playing something that has HDR that it's enabled) ARC/CEC still working here :)
  • I have the HD version, No PS4 Pro but a old PS4 and no 4K TV

Awesome. If I dislike my Ambivision after a few updates (I'll give them the benefit of the doubt...) I'll go for a DreamScreen instead. Love it that you've made an app for it, @nklerk !

It would be great if this app could be extended to the original bluetooth version. Not sure if this is possible? I noticed on the dreamscreen forum there was a node.js library on github for the BLE version https://github.com/smirea/DreamScreen

    That's what I figured ;-)
Was more talking about the Flow options.
Is it able to control everything like power, input, mode, colors, etc.?
