Homey and Toon do not seem to be friends (Toon not responding)

This morning I got the following error in the new mobile app and no response at all in the web interface of homey:

 > Something went wrong adressing Toon (timeout after 5000ms)

I got this error too after Homey updated to 1.5.6 and had to PTP to get it working again, now after 1.5.7 was installed the same is happening again. Toon is functioning normally and the Toon App on my phone (the one from  Eneco, not the Homey 'app') is functioning normally too.

Anyone else having this problem?

Seems remarkable that Homey and Toon are still not good friends after all this time... https://www.athom.com/fi/press/#6f530d39-dfc8-478e-b8a5-3c3e60d4af43

  • Just did a PTP today and it did not help...

Keep in mind this is a community forum as you can read in the forum rules. As far as i know Athom is looking at it. If you want to be updated on the progresss take a look at the Github issue or commit on it
  • Hier hetzelfde probleem helaas

Keep it English please, you are posting in the English part of the forum we have a seperated Dutch part

Hi Lubbert, thanks for the warning. Since my phone Auto-translates all the time from English to Dutch, I completely forgot that I was in the English part of the forum.

Do you mind 2 share the workaround with Olisto, that you've been mentioning on Github?
    Thanks

@mveck Update: Thanks for mentioning the workaround. I 've sorted it out myself :-D

And as a little contribution to this forum, below are the steps I've made, and maybe it will be helpfull to others.

I 've created a few connectors @ "https://olisto.com/connectors",  then created a few triggs with the Olisto-app on my android phone, installed the "HTTP request flowkaarten"-app from the Homey Apps store, then modified some of my earlier flows, added the HTTP flowcard and created a POST JSON with "1" as parameter (Url)

And surprisingly, it workes like a charm :-)

For now, I am a quite happy with this temporarily  solution, but I will be more satisfied with a working Toon app again!

Oh yeah, one note: I had a problem creating connectors with the Google Chrome browser, because the form to create the connectors did not appear. So I decided to use the Edge browser, and that worked.
Maybe someone has any idea why this occurs?

    Cheers all!

Hi @Pauluz, thanks for posting the details. I just got the update from git today. Reason to post this on git was to stop repetition that a fix is needed, luckily for you this works. By the way I am using the beta 2.0 app now in order to create flows. That works just fine.

Were can I find that Beta 2.0 app?
  • mveckmveck Member
Beta 2.0 app is available for download on Android and IOS. The ap is envisioned to remplace Homey Desktop. Please don’t confuse with a Firmware update. This runs on your phone.

@mveck Hi, do you have a direct downloadlink? Because the appstore for iOS and also Android doesnt have the Beta V2.

    Thanks in advance.
  • For android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.athom.homey2
For iOS you have to request a development preview. There's a thread about that:

  • Thanks @bvdbos

Do you have some examples of the http request you send to "olisto" ?
  • mveckmveck Member
Hi @chrisboer the http request are mailed by Olisto when registered properly. Doesn’t help if I send you the “magic URL” to change my thermostat.

if you like to know how to get this running, propose to check Olisto.com/connect
The way to define these connectors is explained on these pages. As soon as Homey can directly change Toon settings I will be the first to remove these for sure.

I didn’t get these connectors to work wit a variable, so until now i have 3 connectors in use.
  • Hi @chrisboer, Just have a look @ one of my earlier posts on March the 29th.
  • Seeing Github and the appstore Toon is working again. You'll need to delete and re-pair your devices though.... @chrisboer already found a (smaller) issue for the new app: #2405
  • Since the new update (v2.0.4), does the "Energiemeter" value get updated for anyone? Mine is blank. "Energie" and "Gasmeter" seem to work fine.

I did de-install old Toon device and app and updated Homey to version 1.5.9. Did install new Toon app 2.0.4 and added Toon again, but the Toon device is not added. Trying to add again gives the message "No new device found".
Toon is also not added to my device list in the flow manager.
    Someone has the same problem?

    Hi @HansieNL

I did not have any problems or whatsoever with the new updated 2.0.4 version.
I suggest to reset your Homey, turn it upside down for 10 seconds, and try again...
You have to connect your Homey to your network again..

  • Best try to start with stop the app, and re-start the app. Don't ever try to reset ur Homey by holding it upside-down unless u really need to.

Helped for me for a couple of times... It won't do any harm.. @Rocodamelshe
  • Whatever suits u best m8. There is a lot that can go wrong when resetting Homey like pushing the wrong button and loose all data . And ofc we don't have that kind of issues but some others may have. So i think it's not a good advice for the regular user.
