measuring dc voltage

Is there any Homey compatible device to measure dc voltage and possibly working on 12V DC as well?

    Not as per knowledge, don't know such device that can measure DC. But there are out there devices that can work on 12VDC like z-wave devices.

    The question is what are you trying to achieve/control? Then maybe people here can point you in the right direction.
  • I would like to know the status of the back up battery of the system
    I need because I am using Homey mostly for security (probably the wrong controller, I know) therefore everything is powered by a backup battery

    Therefore the only way is to measure its voltage by a device
    I know for example that the RGBW could be configured to measure one of the inputs in the 0-10V range

    Unfortunately I tried one but even after reading many posts I did not succeed to let it work after almost one month work
    I am afraid that the Homey App for Fibaro does not have enough degrees of freedom to do so

    That's why I am searching for a device just devoted to measure an input voltage, whatever voltage since one can partition to get the right scale.

    Another possibility:
    That you know does HOmey have an alarm when the power source is too low or too high?

    I don't think that Homey can detect under voltage. First, Homey works on 5VDC and not 12VDC so perhaps you have some sort of DC to DC convertor, don't you? Then too high voltage perhaps can be noticed by having a bricked Homey (not being sarcastic...) unless Homey has an overvoltage protection (Athom might answer this).

    The Fibaro RGBW will do no good here.

    (sorry I live in Oz hence, the Australian website...)
    This one gives you two GND outputs one for under voltage the other for over voltage. Then you wire its outputs into the two binary inputs of a Fibaro Universal Sensor (FGBS-321) which Inputs support GND (negative signal) and which supply voltage is 9-30VDC (perfect for your 12VDC).

    This is one solution, but you have to be have a bit of an electrician blood, only low voltage, thought.

    Of course I used a voltage converter:

    The possibility you outline is possible but really involved and expensive

    I would be very surprised of not finding anything in the world of "Internet of things"

    Are you referring to Homey?

  • no to the world of internet of things in general
  • Check if there is some example on mysensors.org, maybe you can build a sensor icw a mysensors gateway.
