dc actuated switch

Of the several compatible Homey devices, so far I found only switches operating at AC line voltage

The only one I found working with DC 12V is the Fibaro RGBW which however has severe difficulties of configuration with the Homey Fibaro App mostly developed for using the device as a multicolor LED controller.

Therefore control of the Fibaro RGBW device with Homey is very difficult so that I didn't succeed after a month or so of several attempts  following all sort of posts in this forum

The reason for a DC operated switch stands on the need to have a system, devoted to security, operating under a battery backup at 12V DC. In this way devices as sirens or cameras or DC lights can be operated even in absence of power AC line

Any suggestion?

you can connect a relay with a diode on the output

Or the Flush 1D relay   (unfortunately this is for 24V DC )
    ORDERING CODE     ZMNHND1

    Thanks a lot
from the scheme it appears that the device can also be used to switch two separate utilities, correct?
Why do I need a diode for a relay?
You mean to eliminate parasite currents if connected in antiparallel  (+ to +) to the output or for other needs in series to the output?

However on accessing the Qubino App from Homey I CANNOT find the device ZMNHOD1 that from the image appears to be the Flush Shutter DC

Therefore the device is NOT compatible to Homey

I can only find the one channel DC switch ZMNHND1 which however operates at 24VDC

Sorry I did not look at the supported devices for Homey, it's not there
(the diode was meant as prevention of the relay being activated in both directions)

maybe you can use Flush Dimmer 0-10V, used not as dimmer but only as on/off (max/min)
    ORDERING CODE  ZMNHVD1

  • yes this could be an alternative
Do you know if there is a two channel device?

I must mention that I really do not understand the policy of the people working on Homey:
Why do they want to stay away from the security needs and applications

Probably I was just wrong on buying a Homey controller for alarm/security application so that now I am just stuck with the wrong controller

thanks a lot for your comments

Maybe you can check this tread: https://forum.athom.com/discussion/573/using-homey-as-security-alarm-system/p1
