Cheap (generic) PIR

Is there support (or someone busy) for cheap 433mhz (PIR) devices? I have a simple one which just emits the same code over nado ver again.

  • Yes, there is. Although it depends on what your definition of cheap is ;).

    https://apps.athom.com/app/nl.klikaanklikuit (See Motion Sensor, it's like €35,-).

I wouldn't call that cheap for just a PIR.
For less then 10€ extra you can have a Fibaro with PIR, Lux and Temp...

And that's even more expensive :p

Yes, but you get 3 (4 actually with the gyro for tamper/earthquake/...) sensors instead of just 1.
And it's better looking also  :#

You can get a 'simple' pir with z-wave for the same price as the Kaku, which should be more reliable.

Dos it work good with homey that fibaro motion sensor?

Sometimes, but that's caused by Homey for the moment.
On my main controller it's been running for over a year without any problems.
  • @markmg I also want to buy a Z-wave Fibaro motion sensor (FGMS-01) but have put it on hold.
    Reason for my hold is that I read a lot of information on this forum which states;

Z-wave isn't stable, but the older version of the Fibaro Motion Sensor works like a charm here.
  • I have a couple of very cheap (3 euro alibaba) PIR sensors on 433mhz that work flawless with Domoticz. I don't use them for security, I just use them to trigger flows in domoticz and I like that.
  • I have bought one PIR 433 mhz senor on Aliexpress to test if i can connect it to Homey until now it ddidn't work. What could be an option to successfully connect it ?

  • Write an app for it.
  • Don’t know how much that PIR costs, but I’d suggest not bothering with it, take your loss and order this one: https://www.gearbest.com/alarm-systems/pp_659226.html (price varies a lot, you can get it at €9,00) install this app https://apps.athom.com/app/com.xiaomi-mi and you’ll be a happy camper!
  • Stealing the topic, a bit... sorry...

Never thought of Zigbee motion sensors, I have those really expensive Aeotec z-wave sensors. One of those coast as much as 5 of those Smart Home Aqara Human Body Sensors!

    Thanks for the suggestion!

How are these Xiaomi zigbee devices in general? Reliable?
  • I also have some Aeotecs but I’m glad I found the Xiaomi’s when going through Ted’s forum topic on his app.
Compaired to the Aeotecs they’re simple but they do their job well. The only thing to think about is that the luminance is only reported when motion is detected, so not on a regular or delta base as is possible with the Aeotecs. To get closer to the Aeotecs functionality you can add these: https://www.gearbest.com/access-control/pp_626702.html and still save a bunch.

We’re still looking into getting this to work. But indeed safest assumption is that this is indeed a device limitation...

That would make it even more usefull! Great!
