  • So far so good, was able to add all devices without any issues!

Thank you for your effort so far!

Thank you for testing! And nice that you didn't have any troubles getting it to work. I remember that you said somewhere; "Zone numbers? Ik have no idea what those are!"... so, I kept that in mind during development... Any "normal/non tech" user should be able to handle it. Enjoy!

I have sent a Pull Request to Athom for the tado app including info about what I have done.

I also have asked them to wait a few days with an actual app-store update.
For now the responses look very nice, but I like to see some more responses from users who did a CLI-install from GitHub.... just to be sure that noone will have a cold winter and Athom has to start a rescue project.

Just curious... Did you already test the GitHub version?

  • hi @OpenMind_NL no, I didn't. B/c I am not (so) familiar with installing apps outside of the Athom app store. So, although I am reaaaaally curious, I'd like to wait until it's been launched there... :(

    No problem!
At least I did not get any negative responses yet... So I guess it wont take too much time before it appears in the app-store.

Testing went very well. I don't have found any issues. I am very happy with the app at the current state.
I just have one request, an enhancement.

When the Tado smart thermostat knob is switched of manually to the status OFF, this is not reflected in the app.
On this moment I am using Homeyscript in combination of Better Logic to test if Tado is is in the OFF state.

Thanks for testing... and good point! I assumed that the thermostat would indicate a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius when the heating is switched off (Frost protection). But that does not seem to be the case.

I make a note to look at this... just like keeping a changed device name after rebooting Homey.
  • My device was today unreachable ( broken chain Symbol ).
restart the app under settings fixed this issue. Never had this in the Last week.

So have a look on it. But all seems good After restart.

    Just as an info

I noticed the same over here. According to Insights, data stopped changing at about 11:30 in the morning. Everything went to normal at about 15:20, when I noticed it and restarted the app.
But... at the same moment I noticed that the Netatmo Weatherstation device was offline also... and I thought it might be something in my network, so I rebooted my modem/router....

But yes... let's keep an eye on it.
Maybe tado is not happy with our lurking and sent some data to make the apps crash  >:) :D

  • It didn't crash because you restarted the app instead of starting it, right?
    It might ended the connection?
  • So is the app published yet? I can't seem to get it to work
  • Now i have a Second smartthermostat in my kitchen as a second zone. (Zone 2).

All works great! Thank you @OpenMind_NL
  • @OpenMind_NL hearing good stories so far! Any news on eta for release in de app store?

I offered Athom a Pull Request more than a week ago... and 5 days ago I told them that there were no negative responses so I asked them to update... but no replies...

The only working version is curently available for CLI install at: https://github.com/OpenMindNL/be.geekness.tado
We're waiting for Athom to update the app-store version.
  • I installed the Tado app too. Works great for about 5 days now.

Athom ask on slack if you @OpenMind_NL could take the ownership of the app from athom. Emile asked that on slack today.

I answered that about 15 minutes ago  :D

  • Oh, didn’t See that. Sorry
  • Great work on the new app OpenMind_NL! Can I install v0.7.0 without using the Homey app store?

I got an email from tado october 26th saying it now works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Homekit. Ofcourse I thought "No Homey?!". Is there perhaps a new API available because of these new clients?

You can install v0.7.0 with the Homey developer tools (CLI)
    https://github.com/OpenMindNL/be.geekness.tado
    .
But... My guess is that the actual app-store update wont take long anymore (few days max?). They received my Pull Request more than a week ago... and it is assigned for further 'processing'.

For some reason they seem to be very busy at Athom (christmas season?), so it takes a little longer.

BTW: I don't know anyhting about a new API. As far as I know, the current API v2 is from about 6 months ago. Maybe 'the others' also use this same data and needed 6 months to build their compatibility?

The app-store BETA version has been updated...

I noticed that the version number has been changed to v0.7.1, but there are no technical differences with my v0.7.0

NOTE: The stable version is not ussable for most people! Use the Beta!

I did a test-install from the shop version 0.7.1 over my 0.7.0 development version... No problem. It works fine :)
