OT: hack a Fibaro door sensor

I have an old unused Fibaro door sensor with an external input:

I would like to connect it to my old school doorbel, which in fact is a simple push button. So far, so good.

Before doing this, I would like to make the Fibaro mains powered. Simple reason; I want to "connect and forget" avoiding to ever have to replace the battery. I have several Aeotec Sensors that are mains powered by usb phone chargers. Can I do the same with the Fibaro?

Unfortunately, my electronic knowledge is poor to say the least). First hurdle is the voltage; the average usb adaptors are 5V and the battery is 3,6V. Would using an adaptor damage the sensor?

Is it wise to hardware to the existing battery connectors?
