Fibaro Door & Window Sensor (version 2)

Hey guys,

Could we get support added for the Fibaro Door & Window Sensor (version 2), it's the one with the built in thermometer.

I tried to add it using the current Door / Window sensor (Z Wave Plus), but it always hangs on the screen "Fetching Wakeup Period", and then times out.

Added a ticket on Github as well.

just so that the forum is also updated on this device:
    https://github.com/athombv/com.fibaro/issues/145

    In short:
There is a change in this device vs other devices with the inclusion.
The issue/change has been found and fixed (in an future homey update).

Building of the driver has been started by Athom, as they already can include the device properly.
  • Do we know which "future Homey update" it is yet?

since it is already fixed, probably in the next 1.3 RC.
  • The device inclusion should work in Homey version 1.3.0-rc.11 and up, app support will be added in the Fibaro app v1.5.1 (https://github.com/athombv/com.fibaro/pull/148/)
  • Hi, have all updates for homey and fibaro, and still the inclusion hangs at the end. What is wrong?
  • Just wondering if anyone else has problems with the sabotage alarm on this?

I first though that maybe the pressure sensor underneath wasn't making good contact, so I added a piece of double sided tape to make it "bigger" to ensure that it was being pressed. Worked for a few hours and then the sabotage alarm was permanently on again.

Anyone else have this? Bad design maybe?
  • Well, mine has a broken 'clip' that should press the sensor on the back side, so it gives sabotage alarm 24/7. It took me a while to understand that this triggered the sabotage alarm ;-)

I will try to overrule it, with a bit of solder or a wire (once I get too annoyed with it).
  • I only see 'contact alarm' and 'temperature', no sabotage alarm at all.. :open_mouth:
  • @keverjeroen you probably never re-included it after tamper was added several months ago

Yip, here the same issue. I already read about this "problem" (unfortunately i don''t know where).
  • Perhaps a silly question; does 24/7 temper alarm drain the battery (thru constant reporting of the alarm status)?
  • If it's constantly reporting it will, do you see it reporting in the log?
  • Yes, it is constantly reporting. I will try to improvise a way to push the button on the back off the sensor. This is wasting batteries... Hopefully it will stop reporting sabotage alarm.

    Thanks for the answer!

There is a big difference in being in sabotage alarm already (probably in your case) and constantly sending the signal,

which it probably won't as it should only send it once when being triggered, or when gotten from the sensor of course, but it is not "polled" on wake up.

Sending cost battery, just being in tamper constantly does not use up anymore battery as if the tamper would be off.

This is also the cause of some people that the sabotage alarm stays on, the off signal is only send once, and might not be gotten by homey, if you want to reset, trigger it on the sensor (removing the cap is enough) and let it send the off signal again to homey.

    Me to.
With 2 sensors a had the same problem.
I just put some tape behind it and now its not showing de tamper alarm at this moment.
    Hopefully it stays this way.
  • FYI, looks like this problem was just fixed in 1.5.11.

You do need to trigger the tamper alarm once for it to update the state correctly.

That happens to me with a lot of my Fibaro devices, even before the update.

I usually just just pull the battery and put it back and it goes back to normal.

    Could be this: https://github.com/athombv/com.fibaro/issues/170

    or or maybe this:

Thnx, pulled the battery out and back in, and the temperature showing is back
  • I have the exact same issues now with the temperature not showing up, and the constant tamper alarm.

@erreen did you ever figure this out?

In my opinion, the tampercontact is not making contact. When I firmly press the sensor against the surface, the tamper alarm is off. After a while the alarm is comming back. I think the glue is not strong enough.
  • Okey, does this affect the battery life in your experience?
