Wi-Fi Alliance announces 900 MHz 802.11ah "HaLow" standard for IoT at CES2016 - Homey to follow?

Hi everyone.

Today at CES in Las Vegas, the Wi-Fi Alliance surprisingly announced the new 802.11ah "HaLow" standard for the 900 MHz band. Wifi-communication on this frequency band is expected to have double the range of ordinary wifi frequencies, while requiring less electricity to power the circuits. Immediate speculations on various tech sites targets the bluetooth standard, suggesting that the "HaLow" standard will be a direct competitor to bring more devices truely onboard a "smart" environment in homes, at offices, in public places and so on.

If anyone involved in the Homey development reads this - what is your initial reaction? Can the existing Homey units that are being shipped to consumers in January, 2016 be retro-fitted with the hardware needed for Homey to communicate on the 900 MHz band, to ultimately support the 802.11ah "HaLow" standard?
