  • I recently bought a Philips TV and are planning to create an app. Biggest problem so far is that I cannot find any documentation about the exact syntax for controlling the TV.
If you have find any documentation please let me know.
  • I believe there is no "default" Android http control. My Sony Bravia Android  TV uses a scheme that is, as far as I know, different from what Philips uses.

You can try with the Sony Bravia app:

Unfortunately, this app does not work on TVs from Philips
  • Hi Guys/app developers,
Philips Consumer Care send me the info (se below) regarding the 2016 Philips Android TV models. I own a Philips 49PUS6561 model.

    Philips Consumer Care states:

Jointspace will NOT work on the 2016 and newer models. To connect with the Philips TV, you have to use the standard Android tool adb. The standard commands goes by adb connect <ap address>.

There is NO manual, because it is a standard Android API, see also the LINK https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html

For more info on the standard Android API: Android M API level 23, Android L API level 21. More details: https://developer.android.com/about/versions/marshmallow/android-6.0.html

Can somebody let me know if and how Homey can connect with Philips Android TV models (2016 and newer), and if there is already an app available?
Many thanks, and I hope the above information will help.

U can try to add ur remote with IR if u like?
My 2016 Philips with Android TV is working fine with it.
  • I started this weekend figuring out how to communicate with the Android Philips TV. Based on the link of @Tim_Brass
I succeeded in setting up the basic communications (for example switching TV on / off). Now I have only to figure out how to create an app for Homey.
  • @Rocodamelshe If you want to use the iOS app then there is also a app for the newer models https://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/philips-tv-remote-app/id880945867?mt=8
Problem with IR is that you cannot check if the TV is on or off, so in flows it is difficult to use (If you have a flow to put the TV on and TV is already on when the flow starts the TV will go to standby)

  • Am using that app, cheers. Just mentioned that the "my remote" app was not functional with philips TV without "jointspace". For checking if TV is on am using a wallplug and measuring power to check if tv is on or off.
  • @Thomas
Great to hear that someone is trying to create an app for Philips Android TV's.....

Let me know if I can test anything for you......
  • @Thomas

Im also glad to hear that you are trying this.

Keep us posted on this good work!
  • @Thomas

How are you getting along? Hope you can get It all to work!
  • @Thomas
Could we help you with this app? Perhaps someone else is also busy with creating this TV app?
  • @Tim_Brass

If you have experience with developing an app then yes, you could help me. It is my first real app and I am at the moment very limited in my time. I am still struggling with the "add device" dialog.
  • @Thomas
    sorry i have no Experience...
But have you tried the developers chanel on slack? surely someone could help you there...
