Trouble getting IR buttons to be recognised

    turned off completely, it still works if u use it in a flow or talk to homey tho.
    i just dont like the "screen saver" when homey is doing nothing.

    Edit, u can trigger ur flow when sending ir, if u turn the brightness of the led ring to 0% before u send the IR it will be ok i guess, and after the IR is send u can add a led ring trigger to turn the brightness back up.
  • I bought my Homey prior for sending IR-commands but nothing works.
    (Homey software reacts and records the signal but in a flow it doesn't work)
    IR-learning does not work so my Homey is useless for me.
    Is this IR-issue an hardware-failure? (are the holes in homey's case aligned with receiver/transmitter? / beamangle is partly blocked?)
    Of so, can i return my Homey to repair this? 

    Please fix this issue !

    OK another update,

    I was looking for a IR solution for homey's problem and allmost bought a harmony hub (E129,-)!!
    Then i slapped my self and put it back on the shelve thinking homey got IR and it should work.

    Maybe the leds homey got atm are not quite optimal for my use so i went online to find replacements.
    I ran into these Osram SFH 4546, specs look promising, its 40mW stronger, IR beam is 20 degrees instaid of 10, its the same voltage but uses slightly more mA (30).

    its a small ir led on "legs" so soldering will be easy, i will also put it closer to the edge of homey's case as i can bend the legs as i want.

    I just ordered them will report findings when i have them and put em in place!

    Really interest on ho it will go, let we know!by my side  i bought an harmony hub and for me its really good..i Also could controll it via siri (homebridge).. so for know my homey stay powered off (its about since the beginning i cant find a quite good update to solve ir trouble)

    So.... i received me replacement leds, and the result is astounding.

    First of all, u see my homey with the top off, do this AT YOUR OWN RISK.
    Second of all, i have been testing homey's IR with the top of and the results where poor, no reception if u did not line up your receiver.

    WARNING: This video contains graphic content and may be upsetting to some people! xD

    So on this image u can see the led and how i soldered it onto the board, it sticks out atm im still looking for a more delicate solution.



    Here u can see i put tape over the other IR leds just to test this new 1, altho it wouldnt matter as they whernt any good anyway.

    Now the actual test, u can see my sound bar under the TV and the IR aiming completely the other way.
    And it worked....
    Here another one aiming at the wall.


    Decide for your self, try this with your none ajusted homey's, my sound bar wasnt responding before the leds replacement, and im going to figure out a final solution for the new leds placement.

    Allrite allrite, 1 more test.
    This also worked, u can see where the led is aiming.


    So the permanent solution, the other holes are from the "old leds" u can read in previous posts why i did that (tab 1).
    Im still making a wooden house for homey so this case will eventualy be replaced, thats why i dont rly mind drilling in to homey at this moment. I placed 2 leds 1 at the side and 1 more to the back, aiming towards my hardware, but im pretty sure i got full coverage of my living room now. For the first time IR is working as intended.

    I have followed the whole IR discussion here in the forum and so far I can see, your solution is the only one which will work. You do not need this to do for all 6 IR diodes - from my experience it will work fine with 3 or 4 side by side. The IR beam will reflect in all directions from the wall around. I have no homey, so I can not take a real look at the PCB itself (only the PCB graphic on the start page). Each IR LED has a resistor behind - can you take a look how much Ohm it has?

    I will try to help with this IR issue and in my eyes the issue is due to the selection of the components (IR LEDs) and the arrangement of it (behind the plastic)
    I've build a similar device, but only for private to use for send/learn IR and RF433/315MHz

    I like the Homey design and also that it can control the most devices like z-wave etc. and if Athom manage to eliminate the IR issue I will also buy one .

    Hi Marcel, sorry for the late response.
    Is the second one really used in the homey (850nm wavelength)? Your Osram model is even better for using to remote control devices (940nm) - You have done a good job by replacing the IR emitter - for me it looks like Athom has never done IR transmitting tests in a real environment.
