[Help Needed] Problem setup connection to wireless AP (Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC-Lite)

Hi,

I have changed my Wireless AP (Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC-Lite). I have problems connecting to it (setup). It's not showing in the list with available wifi networks either. All other devices connect with no problem.

I use an android tablet with chrome to setup.

Is there a way to debug this/ get this working?

Please help!

  • If think you should turn off the 5 Ghz network during pairing, that might help. After pairing you can turn it back on.
  • Am not sure if the AP works similar as the Amplifi system I installed recently, but see my comment here: https://forum.athom.com/discussion/comment/44526/#Comment_44526

I was not able to turn off only 5GHZ, but changing the bandwidth did the trick! Also try to use Chrome on a normal PC/laptop and not on a tablet (tablets are officially not supported for the setup phase).
  • Is using a andoid tabled or phone use the unifi app in the play store. For standalone configuration or to set inform to the controller
  • I 'tricked' the Homey by using a standard router with the same wireless settings.  Also my Thinking Cleaner faceplate for Roomba 500/600 is losing connection often. Now it is connected, but if it is stable, time will tell.

Thanks @Julian, I will try your suggestion to select the wider bandwidth.

    I'll report the results.

  • My main problem was the stability, sometimes Homey would connect during setup, but the connection was very unstable and Homey often lost its connection. When I then tried to run the setup again it would then not show the router. Very frustrating and cost me quite some hours messing with it. After changing the bandwidth the connection became rock solid!
  • The suggestion, made by @Julian to change the bandwidth to HT40, looks promising after 2 days!

I will now try to connect my Thinking Cleaner Roomba faceplate to see if this device is also getting a more stable connection.

    I´ll keep you posted!
  • To bad, the connections are still fragile. It keeps losing it's connection from time to time...

When checking my Wireless 2.4 GHz neighborhood, it's very crowded. I think this could be the problem. The Unifi controller is reporting a lot of interference.
Selecting other channel numbers is not helping, because they are occupied also.

So, is there a way to connect a wired LAN to the Homey?

This question is already asked long ago. It would be great that it will be made possible in the future with a Ethernet-adapter voor Chromecast kind of cable.
  • Thank you @HansieNL. I revived your topic...  ;)
