Hello all,
I am working in a financial company and I have a meeting next week. So I'll be out-of-state for 4 days. My wife and daughter will be alone in the house, so I have to take some safety precautions. We have a fiberglass door and it is very strong. But she doesn't have the habit of checking who is knocking the door even though we have a peephole. So I would like to install a device that can allow her to see and talk to the visitor before opening the door. Does anyone here have any suggestions?? Any suggestions about this will be greatly helpful.

    So you would like to have a solution for your wife to check who is at the door. You have a peephole, but she doesnt use that... not sure there is anything easier then a peephole to use, i think you have a user problem and under normal circumstances no tech would help her on this... 

    (you could use ring with a deadbolt operated through the Ring app. this way she has to take some action and check who is in front the door before she can even open it.)

    Very important;
    Start with: "OK Honey"!!
    Then: IF doorbell rings, AND looking through peephole is OK, THEN: open door.
    Test this flow only once. When not working; do hard reset! Still not working? Do update, or: bye bye honey! ;)

    IP Camera outside, look through the glass in the living room, buy a large dog. 

    BTW. Ring doorbell is the best solution but it will take a time to get it delivered.

    Alternative is Doorbird which combines smart doorbell with IP camera functionality. Bit more expensive though.

    I would go with an IP cam. Unfortunately it is not supported by homey now, but I believe it's the better choice. Maybe pair it with a motion sensor. When it goes of the tv channel changes to the ip cam feed.

    Or indeed get an ipcam, and hang a 50 inch screen ON the inside of the door. Cant miss what is outside :)

    Ring is the best . Someone is saying it takes a while to get delivered.

    Maybee google isnt yet supported in his browser  :D

    idc-25 from media markt has the same options like Ring whitout the heavy pricing :-) , video is very good my have helped the police to get robberies at my door
