Add zwave device in app

Im new to Homey, and are hoiing to add some fibaro devices.
My question is if i should add this as a zwave device, or if I should add it in the fibaro app.
What is the difference to add it trough the homey "add zwave device", and trough the fibaro app on homey?

@Frankis78 All most all Fibaro devices are covered in the Fibaro app; where also specific settings, trigger- and action cards are defined. So advise is to install the Fibaro app.

When adding an device, select the Fibaro group and it will show the available devices..
The generic Z-wave device is meant for Z-wave devices that are not yet covered by an app. These devices will not have any settings available. Only the advanced parameters.

Tip (of @robin): just use the basic z-wave, if there is an app installed on Homey which supports the device it will automatically select the correct app and driver!
  • Thanks Ted, that's good to know:)
maby you can answer a second question ?
I see often 2 pictures in the fibaro app, for the same device type.
i first thought this is for zwave and zwave plus. Like on dimmers you can see "dimmer 2" which is zwave plus.
But for different other sensors the text is the same on 2 same devices.
How to select the correct one?

  • If I understand it correctly, Homey will use the setting from the fibaro app, although you install it trough the native Homey "add zwave device" ?
  • @Frankis78 Yes. Corrected my original response after learning (again) something from @Robin

Thanks for reply, good to know. I was hoping it worked that way, so that the apps could work like a setting database, but you can add it trough native homey.
In that way you can basically download the app first, then just add a zwave device trough homey "add device"
    Thanks again:)
