RFID distance

In the facebook album i see you're using RFID 13.56 MHz and the description of the pic tells me that there's an limitation of 6cm (~2,5 inch) for reading RFID cards. Whats the idea behind the 6cm limitation, because 13.56MHz should work over 20-30cm (8-12 inches).

That's the theoretical distance. It doesn't really matter, as our only requirement is that Homey's able to read tags from close by, to pair devices in the future. You really don't want 12cm then.
  • Sounds great!

What would be an real live example where you need/want to pair RFID device(s)?

For starters, pairing your phone and exchange wifi credentials.

But our long term vision is a Works with Homey label you can find on packaging of devices that are officially supported. We then want to put a NFC tag in them, so you can pair them by just bumping!

And of course, everything that the community comes up with!
