Voice Output // Osram Lightify // Conrad 433 Mhz

Hi there,

I recently purchased Homey with the Homey Firmware Version: 0.10.7.

I am more of a user then a programmer so my questions might come across  a little stupid - sorry for that in advance!

I have a couple of "problems" where I home the community can help me out:

1. My Homey won't talk to me...I know that the voice works because during the setup I get the feedback from homey "[...]please connect to setup.athom.com[...]", "successfully connected to your wifi network".
But after that nothing more. I ask the time, different other triggers or even flows, where homey shall repeat what I said. Nothing works. Well no... After I triggered it with "Okay, Homey" the circle starts pulsing orange (so I guess it's listening). Then I give it a command "What time is it right now?" - the circle starts spinning white. After that the circle starts pulsing as if it was the rythem of the words it was about to say, but I hear nothing".

I tryed downloading different voices but no chance. Rebooted several times, also turned it upside-down and start setup over and over again, without any luck.

2. I downloaded the Osram Lightify app from the Athom Appstore since I run several lightbulbs with the Lightify-Gateway. When I try to add a device and select a bulbprofile i get a window with "Follow the instructions..." and a spinning wheel but there are no instructions to follow and the wheel keeps turning until eternaty. Did I miss something? Can anyone assist me with connecting the bulbs/bridge to my homey?

3. I got several 433Mhz plugs from a "big" electronic store (Conrad: https://www.conrad.de) Homey can't speak to (yet). Is there a chance it wil someday or should I just get some other plugs that are already supported?

I hope that you can help me out and I am looking forward to contribute to this community as much as I can.

Thanks a lot and see you soon! Best regards from Berlin - Germany.

  • Can you try
    http://[iphomey]/manager/speech-input/

    and then type "test"

As stated above. Go to the address and type in test. If Homey says it can hear you try to talk to homey and see what Homey thinks you are saying (it will appear in the browser)

What brand are these plugs? Conrad is a store.. not a brand.
  • Did you update Homey to 0.10.7 or higher? Also you can try to PTP (pull the plug) wait 5 min and put the plug back in.

On the appstore https://apps.athom.com/ you can see witch brands are suported at the moment.
  • Hi all,

thank you so much for your responds. I did the speech-input manager and typed in "test". but again no actual voice output. I tryed talking to homey and it recognized my commands pretty well (what time is it; is it gonna be raining today?) but still no voice output. I don't hear a thing.

My Homey is running on 0.10.7 atm. Not able to update any higher. From the weekly athom repord I thought 0.10.7 was the current stable version.

Also PTP didn't fix the problem.

At first I thought it was the house-brand of Conrad but now found the small label saying Intertek "UNITEC" Modell: EIM-826

Do I really seem to be the only one struggling with this specific problem?
  • Did u try to put the speaker on in the settings?
  • Well the Output volume is at 100% so I'd say it is on. I dont see any option to turn it on or off

Really seems to be broken. You didn't connect a speaker through the 3.5 mm jack? We don't only  have the speech-input page but also an output:
    http://[iphomey]/manager/speech-output/
What happens if you type something here?
  • I tryed to connect a Speaker to the 3.5mm jack with no other results then the build in speaker(s).

Also tryed the speech-output manager, where he liste all the written commands but again no actual sound comming out of homey.

How can it be, that during the setup the speaker/voice does work, but after the setup not anymore?

I would also be willing to send in my homey for some troubleshooting if you think you cannot analyze the problem from afar.

Otherwise I am happily willing to try out other/new things.
  • Next thing to do is ask @Annemarie by sending a mail to support@athom.com.

Yep, if even after typing in http://[iphomey]/manager/speech-output/ you hear nothing and you're sure you set the volume high enough then it seems like there's something broken...
