AXA Remote Window Opener using IR

My Homey is running on software version 0.10.1.

Unfortunately IR is not working for my AXA Remote 2.0 window opener. This is controlled by IR, but I guess it has something to do with the fact that the IR remote needs to be paired with the AXA window opener.

So what I did:
- first I programmed homey with the new IR device and then choose to program a button, in this case the 'Open' button
- then I made a flow where it would press the 'Open' button in 5 seperate events.
- then I used the AXA procedure to program the use of another remote by pulling the batteries from the main unit and putting them back. Then the unit should respond to a 'Open button' IR signal from another remote.
- then I had Homey emit the IR signal for the 'Open' button, but unfortunately still no luck...

hi @Erwin1 it won't work. Axa uses some kind of encrypted IR technology that seems to fluctuate everytime the button is pressed.
I have tried it with Homey, but also with Harmony and other repeaters, no luck at all. Also see: https://forum.athom.com/discussion/comment/2879/
There is a workaround with hacking the Axa but it will cost you more than buying another Z-wave window opener. I have Fakro's but there's still no Homey app for that...

  • wat je wel kan doen is. je axa slot aansluiten op een kaku asun 650 en die schakelen met de homey

Ok, that's unfortunate. Guess I'll have to look at other ways to open it.
Transforming it to Z-Wave might even be better anyway, because then the state of the window can also be tested (if it's opened or closed). IR doesn't give me that option, nor does KAKU.
  • hi @Gadgetruud dat wist ik zelf nog niet. Heb je daar wellicht meer info over, of heb je dit zelf ook gedaan? Ben benieuwd hoe dit dan moet werken...
  • In my case the Axa Remote opens a window on the ground floor and as such it's pretty easy to gain access to my house through this open window. That's why I wouldn't want an unsecured KaKu device being able to open it. This would make it very easy for a burglar to open the window and come into my house...

I would much more prefer a secure Z-Wave or Wifi connection...

But when the window is out of reach for burglars than a KaKu would do very nicely.
  • You can also link the axa to a fibaro z-wave relay, then you will be able to use z-wave

@vanillassky do you have more info about this, possibly documentation?

its the same solution you were talking about in another topic:  https://forum.athom.com/discussion/223/axa-remote. So it's about this solution again: https://www.robbshop.nl/over-z-wave/z-wave-projecten/axa-raamopenener-via-z-wave-bedienen

Yes, but all in all it's quite costly. Better go then for Fakro z-wave opener. Also not cheap but: z-wave... :)
