Airflow-app Chromecast.

Hi there. I found an windows/linux mediaplayer which can practically stream ANY media-format to Chromecast  (v1 as well v2[+audioversion]).

However I lack the programming skills to get Homey to work with this. I'm not thinking about ripping the program, but maybe there is a way to use the player as some kind stand-alone player/streamserver controlled by Homey. It would make Homey a monster (if not THE monster) of a mediaplayer/controller. 

i.e. "Homey play Dark Knight i livingroom" (Homey then give somekind of command to the airflow player to load Dark Knight and play it in the Livingroom on the Chromecast-dongle connected to your livingroom tv/beamer/projector.)

Anyone willing to pick up the glove on this one?

    I am using BubbleUPnP Android app. Basically it does transcode video if needed and stream it to Chromecast. It also requires custom app for Chromecast which most of the time implement custom protocol which needs to be reverse engineered. So quite a lot of work to do here.
    It looks like app is in early beta (no features list, screens, linux app) I guess it targets simple use cases and no remote control. Haven't tested this app. It's a crowded space.

    For your example take a look at YouTube & Chromecast apps. Also there are Kodi and Plex apps, but afaik they don't support streaming to Chromecast.

    Actually it works on MacOS and Windows. You can select audio and subtitle streams and control the playing. Gonna test it tonight.

    Ehm... tried it, but it gives me the company Airflow...  :/  If you google it, it will show it's called airflowapp

    @MatjaLipu  i'm also using that app on my phone, but the airflow is a PC/MAC program. It has much characteristics of vlc. It's fast and clean.

    I also use Airflow, mainly for streaming content that isn't usually supported by most services (i.e. MKV's). it's pretty great.

    However, I think what you're looking for can also be handled via the Homey Plex app. Unless there's a specific use-case that Airflow solves that isn't possible with Plex.

    That's exactly what i meant. An app that supports everything. Why use plex when Airflow supports virtually every format. No need for multiple apps, when just one does it all. Even in the reddit community it is valued as THE most wantted vlc add-on. Yet the developer chose to release it as a stand-alone. In my opinion it would make Homey a MASTER in media-files.

    You still need second device (not Homey) running airflow app to transcode videos.

    Until app releases docs how to remotely control app, I don't see an option how to integrate it with Homey.
