Voice control

After days of trying, rebooting resetting etc. my conclusion is that homey is pretty worthless at this moment.
The only command it understands is : ok homey what time is it. 100% score. None off the made flows work. Alle checked and double checked. pairing with all my KAKU units was easy and also manual switching thru the app works. However for that i already have a good working KAKU app.

How to check why my homey is not recognising any command?  Gr Jantonio

When u go to http://<<HomeyIP>>/manager/speech-input/ u can see what Homey thinks u said.
And if u don't know how things work u should ask what ur doin wrong instead of saying Homey is worthless.

  • I think it would be best for you to check what is appearing on http://HOMEY-IP/manager/speech-input when you try to send commands to Homey.
This interface will provide you with the interpretation of the speech, according to Homey. This will help a lot with troubleshooting.

Next to this, a lot of people indicate that speech doesn't work too well if they are seated too far away from Homey (>3 meters). You could also try to see if you can use the speech via the Android/iOS app, this generally works very well, but is of course more cumbersome.

    Good luck!

Homey Speech recognition is not perfect, but it is getting better. However, you also need to learn how to best deal with it, at least for now.
In my experience, it works best if you just use 1 or 2 keywords in the middle of a sentence. So you can use the 'You said anything' card as the trigger, in the second column you place the logic card with 'text contains'... and place the 1 or 2 keywords there.

For example, I have a flow so I can order Homey to roll down the Somfy sunscreens.

    I use:
    when...YOU SAID ANYTHING

... and ... text contains 'sunscreen'
... and ... text contains 'down'

    ... then close blinds

I tell Homey: "OK Homey, move sunscreen down please".

Works better than "OK Homey, sunscreen down".

That is a very nice TIP! never thought of that and i'm play a lot with homey
  • Hey Jorden,

I saw your advice, so i gave it a try. But it does not work with me. When I save the flow and test it with the test button I get some red crosses in the upper left in the logic card. Looks like it does not function.

Also saying the OK homey, move sunscreen down please does not work.
Any idea what I do wrong?

    Regards

Try testing it with the speech input manager at: http://<<your ip>>/manager/speech-input/

When hitting the test button there is no speech to parse, hence the red crosses. Just type in the words in the speech input manager and your flow will be triggered.
  • Ho Phuturist,

    Thanks for your reply,
I checked the speech-input. Looks like homey understands the words differently then I say. For example:
Sunscreen = "Send Scream", "Send Stream" or "whats the sentry"
I think voice recognition needs still some attention

My flow is actually like this, because it doesn't understand 'sunscreen' well enough:
(Just make sure not to use 'down' in your other flows)

    Hi,

How is that supposed to work, I'm looking at a rainbow screen with a white bar at the bottom, I can type in the bar button nothing happens, same if I speak to Homey nothing happens here?

  • In another tab of the chrome browser, you have login my.athom.com.
That will help you. I had the same issue since the desktop app.
  • That's indeed showing a little more, speech is showing once I refreshed the window.

But now I get:  <homey-IP> says; Error: no_auth_method_found on the output page when typing a command.

Refereshing that page and actually opening Homey instead of just logging in did the trick.

    Thanks @WRos
