Speech AND a written message

My Homey occasionally starts babbling to me. Unfortunately I have no idea what is being said; I am 90 % deaf...

Interestingly enough, I have a good voice and thus am able to use the speech commands (the succes rate is poor, but that is not a problem with my voice....all family members have the same issues).

Anyway; I would love to see the output of Homey's speech synthesizer echoed as a email/text or App notification...

  • You can see the speech out here: http://your-ip/manager/speech-output/ where you replace the your-ip with the IP address of your Homey.
  • Thanks Phuturist! I thought that only showed what I tried to say to Homey, not the output of Homey...

There are actually two, one for input and one for output. The other is indeed only for input: http://your-ip/manager/speech-input/
  • and if you wear a smartwatch (fe AndoidWear) and send it as a Push notification to your phone you have every msg direct on your wrist ;-)

  • Do you have some sort of screen reader on your phone or something like an braille keyboard that can be hooked up using api's of some sort?

I am imagining some kind of monitor (or tablet kinda device on the wall) that brightens up as homey says something, then it pulls the text-feed from homey and shows that. I would like to have that too, for moments when the internal speaker is on 0% volume (at night for example), if you didn't hear because music is playing or of course when someone is (90%) deaf. Visual feedback is always a nice thing to have.

Almost perfect. A bit bigger and an option to write on it, would make it perfect!

True, and a sooner release date (Spring 2017).
  • Oh my gosh, that would be like the most perfect thing ever.
Except that you can't write on it. And isn't that what post-its are all about? ;)
