Support Toon from Eneco (dutch)

Homey also supports the thermostat Toon Eneco (dutch)?

http://www.eneco.nl/toon-thermostaat

In order to control the temperature via Homey.
Toon support Wifi and z-wave. And as far as I know there is also a Api available.
Thanks!

When they release the API we'll definitely support it.

I don't think they will do that. That said, I reverse-engineered their app, and wrote a python module for it. I'd be happy to know what needs to happen to get this supported, as I'm both a homey backer and a toon owner :)

For reference, the source can be found at https://github.com/rvdm/toon - a number of libraries for other home automation solutions (or other languages) have been developed from this basis.

With that in mind, will homey support toon? :)

@rvdm that's great work! Would you maybe be willing to create an Homey app for the Toon, when we release the SDK?
  • @emile i'll give it a go, i'll need it myself anyway - that said, I didn't scan the forums for SDK information at all (yet), but i'm interested, assuming it can be open source (i.e. on github).

Awesome! We'll be in touch when the sdk is ready enough.

We're already implementing Toon using the unofficial API. :-) We'd gladly switch when the official one is released though.

While we're at it, what would you guys like to see supported? Obviously the setting and reading of the thermostat, and what else?

  • As much as possible.... ;-)
Although you will probably say that HUE and Z-wave are directly possible with Homey.....
Powerconsumption with all the statistics are also included?

Emile means, what other features of Toon thermostat would we like to see supported...

  • Maybe some warning mechanism. When I leave the house and still use 3KWh power or when the heating is on while I go to bed. But that may be default options when readings are available in the flow editor..

  • Would be nice of Homey could take over the daily programming from Toon because Toon has a slow and lousy interface :)

  • I would love the possibility to insert a blocking mechanism. Such as when one of the windows is open, don't start the heater. It would be a shame to loose all that warmth.

@ThijsVanUlden, the interface on Toon itself is improved by the last update. But the app is terrible.

Agreed. What do you use to monitor the state of your windows?

  • Geofencing, when i leave the house the heating should automatically discontinue, and the other way around if i come/am home and the outside temperature is below * then it should start heating.

Do you have the update running? The Toon is now really fast and I must say that it's one of the nicest interfaces out there. I would love to have a Homey controller on the wall with the exact same interface as Toon.

To get back to Emile's question: It's probably better to wait and see what the API will expose. I assume all basic info like gas/power usage, but also meter readings and solar panel measurements.

  • I would like to control the termostaat from the flow editor. And log everything else it spits out. :-)

  • @ ThijsVanUlden: At this moment nothing, I still have to dive into what I want. I think something small on batteries. Type of protocol doesn't matter that much, as long as Homey can handle it :).

    • Temperature control
    • Sensor reading (temperature, gas, electricity)
    • Geofencing with multiple user control
  • did anyone join the API launch party? couldn´t make it, but I am curious about what they presented :)

  • What I understood at the eneco forum is that there where not that much people. But they did put an api online at http://www.toonapi.com/

  • It's not strange that there are a few people when you invite people on a thursday at 17:00. Most people are busy with their work. Also in this case, they did it on december the 3th... I can imagine that there are a lot of people who are thinking about some holy guy here in the Netherland (A).

This meeting is also resceduled. I think it has to do something with the lack of application.

http://www.toonapi.com/documentation for documentation and download (but still needs eneco abo for Toon to use if i understand it correct, because you are NOT talking directly to Toon. Please correct me if i'm wrong)
